Are the doctors being unreasonable

Or is my partner/me

For the last few months he has had a massive lump on his abdomen. Its getting bigger. You can see it under his t shirt. Its now the size of half a rugby ball. He finally phoned the GP (typical man, doesn't want to bother them etc)

GP gave him a phone consultation for the next day. I thought when he explained it they would get him in to examine it or at least do a video call ask for a photo but no. They gave him an appointment for 10 days later. No indication of what it could be. I have an idea but obviously I'm not a dr.

He's also lost 10kg over a year without trying (high starting weight so you can't really tell)

I'm really scared and feel that the dr should be taking it more seriously. Also wish he had done something before this!

No. Nothing else.

It's lower down than the liver. I actually do think it's a hernia but the weight loss may be another issue entirely.

The GP probably isn't being unreasonable. It's probably a combination of him not giving enough detail and the NHS being stretched.

I'm just feeling anxious and frustrated.

im really sorry this is happening

but this has been noticeable for a few months and nothing has been done on your side, so its a bit harsh to be off with the gp for having to wait 10 days for an appointment.

for all we know your dp may have said its been there a while, and the gp thought well its not urgent then as this is the first contact

When you say the appointment is next Friday, do you mean 28th January? If so, for the sake of 5 days you might as well leave it till then. It doesn't sound as if you're likely to get any different solution any more quickly.

Surely this is mainly down to your partner for not contacting the GP sooner (from a fellow procrastinator)

Fingers crossed all is ok
