Since our government wont vaccine our kids can uk under 1s go into things such as the theatre or restaurants or not. We booked a trip but now we don't think we can go cos our child is unvaccinated the guidance is so unclear

Under 11

No, you can’t. We were there in November. Vaccine rules in your home country do not matter, if you can’t comply with their State regulations for children to be vaccinated, you cannot enter indoor attractions/theatres/sit down restaurants. They’re very strict - no vaccine proof and photo ID, no entry.

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 13:22

Do you think our under 11s will ever get vaccinated

OP posts:
WhWt · 22/01/2022 13:25

I have absolutely no idea.

LakeShoreD · 22/01/2022 13:30

It’s very clear unfortunately and if your child is 5-11 then you may as well cancel because you won’t be able to do any of the normal holiday stuff.

No idea what our government will do though, I have a child that’s due to turn 5 shortly so I’m watching with interest.

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 17:10

Its a complete surprise I only found out yesterday he's already cancels once wishful thinking I guess they'll be vaccinated before April

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/01/2022 17:14

I don't think under 11s will be vaccinated by April, sorry. There are no plans at all currently to vaccinate under 11s apart from CEV ones and they haven't even started that yet.

My 8 year old is desperate to go to New York, it's a shame.

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 17:17

So upsetting hope we don't lose all our money

I booked to go December. Just waiting to see what happens. Dd will be 8

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 17:21

I think the rules have changed since my husband booked the trip

OP posts:
Nootkah · 22/01/2022 17:26

@Lockeddownagain Unfortunately, the rules apply whether the vaccine is available in the visitor's country. Germany have also got rules for anyone over 5.

I actually do think 5-11 will be able to be vaccinated in the UK eventually, even if it has to be done privately or through a travel clinic. Unlikely any time soon though.

underneaththeash · 22/01/2022 17:46

Eventually it’ll be a nasal spray like flu I imagine.

Oinkypig · 22/01/2022 18:09

I was in New York before Christmas with my under 11 and got them vaccinated there when we arrived. No cost and no queue and I used the hotel address. I was honest we were on holiday (the rules changed a couple of days before we went) child had no side effects either. The restaurants weren’t so strict everywhere but the museums/attractions were.

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 18:14

Can u do that

Well did you book it on a refundable basis?
sadspringday · 22/01/2022 18:20

my CEV 9 year old is booked in for her vaccine in 2 weeks so they have started those.

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 18:20

April disd you not read my posts I knew nothing about it till yesterday

OP posts:
Oinkypig · 22/01/2022 18:25

Yes there are loads of pop up vaccination clinics, we went to time square, at that time under 11 only needed a first dose though so that might have changed. I got DC their first vaccine within two hours of arriving, we also got a $100 gift card incentive as well. If you Google it you will see the city of New York will vaccinate anyone and requires no documentation. There were clinics at the natural history museum and loads of pharmacies as well. I was also glad to get my child at least one dose

Did you get proof of vaccine straight away

This sounds very tempting I really wany her vaccinating anyway thanks so much I'll Google

OP posts:
Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 18:34

It's still 1 dose

OP posts:
Oinkypig · 22/01/2022 18:38

Yes they give you a vaccine card there and then which everywhere accepted. I was dreading and most people I told the plan before going thought I was slightly mad but honestly it was the easiest thing. We went to time square, the clinic was above the Hershey shop we walked in, gave details like D.O.B and the hotel, got the vaccine, waited 15 minutes and left with $100 gift card (you do have to phone to activate but that was also super easy!) the only thing is get them to write the month on the vaccine card so 1st March rather than the American 03/01/22

Envoitrevisage · 22/01/2022 18:41

I had to cancel our trip. My 7 year old is unvaccinated of course.

I had read about having it done upon arrival, but I was a little concerned about side effects ruining our trip. My husband and I had awful side effects.

Oinkypig · 22/01/2022 18:45

@Envoitrevisage I totally understand worrying about side effects but when I had read round it it seemed most children are fine and I was a bit tired but fine after mine so decided to take the risk.

Lockeddownagain · 22/01/2022 18:58

Yeh I'm going to think hard about it I might just have to take a ton of calpol
