It is ridiculously easy to book a vaccination. Just go online and find a big chain pharmacy near your hotel. Most of them will have online booking for Covid vaccinations. You answer a few questions and pick your time and date. The shot is even free which is extremely rare. Proof of vaccination is provided immediately once you get the vaccine.

The biggest complications would be potential side effects or your appointment being cancelled at the last minute because of worker shortages.

I also don’t know the rules in New York since I haven’t visited so I don’t know if there is a required wait between vaccination and entry into establishments. In my area, the places requiring vaccination require you to be two weeks past your last shot.

We were due to go soon with 2 unvaccinated children. Our travel agent contacted us as soon as the news broke about the new rules coming into force (so mid December). We have postponed as our children were most excited about going up all the skyscrapers. The only issue with postponing is that the costs of travelling there have now increased and it’s a LOT more money.
