I do! I'm obsessed! I love walking round looking at all the good memories. I always scour the charity shops for more frames!
But I never used to, I think it was because I never had time to get photos printed but you can do it online now.
I have noticed my parents never had our photos up though. I have given framed photos to family before of us all having a nice day out, some put them up but some don't and I was wondering if I committed some kind of faux pas giving photos for other people? What would you think?
I wouldn't gift wall art because I think that's a bit off but a photo I didn't think think was the same category.

We do, we have a gallery in the hall and going up the stairs. They are photos of places we have been, places we love, days out, our cat(s). We are in some of them but not all, the focus is mainly the place or the unusual viewpoint (like the one taken underwater in the beautiful clear water of the Aegean). Some feature people who are no longer with us. Sad

I didn't like the big bare expanses of wall, I like the reminders of the beautiful places, I like that they are all in plain black frames. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste but we like it.

I have no intention of giving them to other people, although I would if someone said they'd like a copy, that would be different.

The rest of the house has paintings, no other photos there.

Keladrythesaviour · 19/01/2022 17:26

We've got one long frame with 5 small photos of us on holiday in it, but no other people photos around the house (except some military ones in DH's office). All our pictures of prints or paintings. I find it a bit odd having pictures of ourselves on the wall. I'm super critical too so I'd spend my time focusing on my large upper arm or something until I ended up hating a photo I used to love.

@Bluebluemoon39

Yes, I love having photos of the dc everywhere and from our wedding day as they make me smile when I'm dusting them! Also because I have lots of really lovely photo frames and I think things like that make a house a home.
I am with you, I think they make my house feel more homely, I have them everywhere and all evoke lovely memories.
MedusasBadHairDay · 19/01/2022 17:28

Currently I don't as we moved in last year and haven't got around to decorating yet,
but I've got two frames in my office that are sat empty because I haven't got round to printing the photos I want yet.

PhilCornwall1 · 19/01/2022 17:30

Only a couple of the boys and one of our wedding, although we did ponder on replacing that with something else.

I haven't had my photo taken for over 10 years and that's perfect for me.

RedPanda17 · 19/01/2022 17:32

No, we have art instead. I have been gifted photos but they go in a drawer. I love looking through photo albums, but don't like them displayed. Those family posed canvases are awful.

LublinToDublin · 19/01/2022 17:32

I didn't used to but my Dad died 2 years ago and then Mum in 2020. We did a photo history for each as part of their funerals and loved the process. It seemed such a shame to put them all back in a cupboard so have some of them framed and up on a wall together with some other favourite photos.

It's a very personal choice of pictures and I chose how they are framed and go together on the wall.

I love being sent photos (WhatsApp or email) as reminders of happy occasions but would really not want someone else to choose one and frame it as a gift. The expectation would be that I would display it and that might not be what I'd choose.

elliejjtiny · 19/01/2022 17:32

I love photos and dh prefers paintings, posters etc. We have an equal number of both but if I had my way I would get rid of all the paintings, posters etc and have loads of photos all over the walls. Much prefer photos of the dc on the swings, jumping in the river and climbing trees than posed ones.

Ruibies · 19/01/2022 17:33

We do but it is all down to DH, I wouldn't be arsed about it but his family LOVE displaying photos. MIL will print off a photo of literally any day out. Every time we go to their house there's a new photo in a frame added to the collection round the house. I find it crazy, but I use Instagram at lot and love taking and looking at photos on my phone, which my husband doesn't. So I guess different strokes for different folks.

Crepusculum · 19/01/2022 17:34

DH hates photos like this up around the house (I think because he doesn't really like some of his family and seeing them on a regular basis like this would not spark joy but it would be really obvious if some were up but others weren't...)
I have a couple of black and white photos framed in my study but that's it - I don't think I would want more.
We both enjoy periodically having a good look through all the photos we have though but don't want loads up all the time.

480Widdio · 19/01/2022 17:34

Yes,I have a table covered in them!!

As a child there were no photos in our house. To me it makes a house my home.

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 19/01/2022 17:35

None, I know what all my family and friends look like so don’t need reminding. But that said I’m a single 20 something so things may change (I have a very photogenic cat)

Leonberger · 19/01/2022 17:36

We love them here too!

kookievee · 19/01/2022 17:36

A couple but I don't like it. I think it's quite naff and the more pictures the worse it is. Sorry!

FangsForTheMemory · 19/01/2022 17:37

I have a couple of photos of myself with friends in my bedroom.

One of my friends always used to have loads of pix of herself up. I suppose it's no worse than putting selfies on Facebook.

MrsGHarrison87 · 19/01/2022 17:38

We've got one of us all together. Then just pics of the kids.

Washermother33 · 19/01/2022 17:38

We have quite a few of the kids having fun and a few of us … it’s nice to remember the good times … very few are professional shots

Josette77 · 19/01/2022 17:39

I do. Mainly of our friends because they are my family. Lots of my ds, and some of family.

For those who don't like their picture taken. When you pass away your kids will likely wiah they had pics of you. I have one picture of my dad at 12. It's from a distance and I can't see hs face. He died at 42 and this pic is all that remains.

MrsTimRiggins · 19/01/2022 17:40

Oh loads. Photos of DH, DS and I, separately and together, photos of the wider family, the farm, the dogs, the horses… everything that’s important to us. I swap and change them here and there, and they always make me smile.

Vampirethriller · 19/01/2022 17:40

Lots. Mostly my daughter and various pets. One of my grandma in the 40s, one of my grandad and me when I was little. My house looks like a junk shop anyway so I'm not bothered about clear walls and I like to see the pictures.

Warblerinwinter · 19/01/2022 17:40

I have clusters. Not all rooms.
So I have a “gallery” wall on the landing - only seen by family or close friends staying and me….lots of pictures of kids and wider family and historic family pictures back to 1920
Then I have few of kids (small ones) in a little cluster (1-3) in a couple of rooms.
I don’t like them everywhere so this works for me.

speakout · 19/01/2022 17:41

No.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 19/01/2022 17:41

I have loads in frames and canvases. I suspect it’s a bit naff but I don’t care Grin we are a good looking bunch haha!
I really don’t like those posed professional ones though - all the ones we have are collages we’ve made or shots from days out / special occasions etc that we’ve blown up.

sadpapercourtesan · 19/01/2022 17:43

I have a few pictures of the kids when they were little, one of them as toddlers with their grandad, here and there.

I wouldn't have those god-awful giant posed "photo-shoot" things. They make me cringe.

DoodleBelle · 19/01/2022 17:49

We have 1 giant frame with 4 rows of small (Polaroid style) photos strung up with small pegs we had an instax camera on our wedding day and we got some fun and natural photos this way which I love. Other than that we just have 1 other framed photo.
