To think the line is too thin to be positive?

Not been feeling great, really tired and headachy and runny nose. Took the test on the left this morning and the one on right tonight. Both lines came up within 10 minutes. Seems to be getting darker however the line is really really thin! Have went for PCR.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else lines been so thin?

I’d treat it as positive until you get your PCR results. I think the guidance is that any pink line is a positive, if you’ve read the test within time, etc.

MaizeBlouse · 18/01/2022 19:19

It's a faint positive. Mine was the same.

SmallElephant · 18/01/2022 19:19

That's a positive.

MazzleDazzle · 18/01/2022 19:21

It’s positive and will probably be stronger if you do another test tomorrow.

malmi · 18/01/2022 19:24

The thickness and darkness of the line can vary but if there's anything there it's a positive. Hope you feel better soon.

elbo7 · 18/01/2022 19:28

Yes I did with flex flow although a bit fainter than that, so was barely visible on camera. I had about 3 or 4 the same result from 2 different packs over 4 days and they never got darker. DH had nothing at all on his. I isolated anyway as was ill and then got a cough so went for a pcr on the 3rd day and it was negative... Thought it must be a cold, but then my eldest tested positive on lft 5 days later Confused

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 18/01/2022 19:30

Yes. Thats a positive. That's what mine was like. Started feeling a bit crappy, done lft's- negative for 2 days, then on 3rd day, faint line like that. Then positive PCR.

kentuckyfriedpizza · 18/01/2022 19:32

It's strange because was around a confirmed positive case on Sunday, she was in my house playing with my daughter for 5 hours and started getting symptoms late last night. Felt fine during day today although exhausted and slept for 4 hours when I should have been doing uni work 😰 then tonight it's just hit me.

Surely it's too soon if I was exposed on Sunday? Or is that just how quick it works?

Omicron can have a short incubation period but also you could've caught it somewhere else. It's positive regardless.

Mollymopple · 18/01/2022 19:41

Sorry if I missed it but did you throat swab? It picks the results up where a nasal swap sometimes doesn't. Might be worth trying to retest with throat swab

kentuckyfriedpizza · 18/01/2022 19:44

No I just swabbed my nose with them both

Your post has made me look at the picture I took of DS test after school- school requested we LFT after rising cases over the last couple of days. I sent it to DH and he said no line, but I thought I could see one.
What do you think?

Know at least 3 people who got a negative nasal but positive when they swab the throat.

I can maybe see one but looks lower down than the test window

I wasn't sure if that would mess up the results as it says on instructions to just swab nose. Maybe worth a try xx

Omicron is that quick.

Mollymopple · 18/01/2022 19:58

The is some evidence that throat swab can be more accurate in earliest stages.

beecrazy · 18/01/2022 20:06

Mine was like that on testing in the afternoon but strong positive next morning. Always swab throat as well even if it says only nose swab needed, it's nowhere near as accurate just nose

I can't see a line in that one except the one below the test window. Would call that negative
RampantIvy · 18/01/2022 20:17

The laterl flow tests we have in the house say to swab the nose and the throat.

No the ones I have 100 percent say to swab just nose. But will try throat as well when I do another one tomorrow. Starting to feel really not well now.

I'd say positive. This was my test last week. I'd had a strong postive on the old style tests the day before. I had no symptoms at all and my tests were fainter every day and I'm now negative. I've never swabbed my throat with the old style or my PCR and have tested positive twice.

To think the line is too thin to be positive?
PivotPivotPivottt · 18/01/2022 20:23

The lines on these tests are always really thin my friend sent me a photo of hers and it was a dark line but very thin.

Halfabag · 18/01/2022 20:27

Mine were a mixture of faint, thin and thick and dark. All positive unfortunately. That’s positive. Feel better soon.

milkysmum · 18/01/2022 20:29

I'd say get follow up PCR. It could be a positive BUT my daughter has LFTs that look like that frequently- she had one yesterday but because she had a sore throat I took her for PCR- results came back this morning- negative- so she's back to school tomorrow.
