To think the line is too thin to be positive?

kentuckyfriedpizza · 18/01/2022 19:16

Not been feeling great, really tired and headachy and runny nose. Took the test on the left this morning and the one on right tonight. Both lines came up within 10 minutes. Seems to be getting darker however the line is really really thin! Have went for PCR.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else lines been so thin?

The one on the right looks positive.

It is moving quickly here btw.
DH came home from work last Wed evening and tested positive Wed night/thurs morning.
He works away Mon to wed and the people he worked with on Wed got symptoms and positives on Sat.
DS then tested positive sunday morning.
I have symptoms today and a very faint LFT this evening so think I have caught it off DS now.

froggybiby · 18/01/2022 20:36

Yes it is positive...mine was the same on Monday am after my family was positive on Thursday....pcr done on Sunday confirmed it.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 18/01/2022 20:51

You should get a pcr done. Lft is only if you don't have symptoms.

kentuckyfriedpizza · 18/01/2022 20:56

Am I being deluded in holding out hope my pcr will still be negative? Meant to be going away on Thursday 😣

Doing a positive right there. You might find the line gets stronger as your infection develops in time.

Hospedia · 18/01/2022 22:55

Current government guidance is:

From 11 January in England, people who receive positive lateral flow device (LFD) test results for coronavirus (COVID-19) will be required to self-isolate immediately and won’t be required to take a confirmatory PCR test.

So you don't need a follow up PCR unless you want to claim the £500 covid support payment, you're enrolled in a research study, or you're in an at-risk group who might benefit from antiviral treatment (you'll know if you are as you would have had a message telling you that you're being sent a priority PCR test to keep at home "just in case").

sleepylittlebunnies · 18/01/2022 23:05

That is true Hospedia if asymptomatic, but if you have symptoms then it should be a PCR test not an LFD test.

Thanks for that, I'm in Scotland though.

I'm actually really awake and alert but have spent all day so exhausted and sleeping! What symptoms do you have? Have you been for PCR? Hope you feel better soon Thanks

I'm the same - am now reading MN eating rice cakes in bed!

I have back and leg aches, slight sore throat, headache and raised temp.

I'm in Ireland and between the ages of 4 and 39 we dont need a PCR confirmation. The rules changed last week.

Sorry that youre now going to miss your trip.

2pinkginsplease · 19/01/2022 00:11

I had a negative LFT on Thursday morning, I was in contact with someone on Friday morning who had a positive LFT, I started with symptoms on Saturday evening , positive LFT Sunday and confirmed PCR test on Monday.

Incubation is 2/3 days for this new variant!

My nasal LFT showed the positive quite quickly,

2pinkginsplease · 19/01/2022 00:15

Pressed send too soon, Your second test looks positive to me

Enough4me · 19/01/2022 00:22

My LFTs were faint, even had a negative PCR, symptoms became worse, still had positive LFTs, second PCR positive. If you have faint positive LFT and feel ill, take it as positive and log on the NHS Covid app.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/01/2022 00:30

Hi OP - I think that’s a line, and you should get a confirmatory PCR to be sure

@NeverSurrender I’m not sure that’s a line as the thin line is in the wrong place and also seems to carry on beyond the window, i.e. it’s just the photograph resolution. That’s the first “can you see a line”‘I’ve said no to on here - including pregnancy tests! Grin

MummyInTheNecropolis · 19/01/2022 03:33

Mine looked like this on Sunday - the second one was taken a few hours later, no doubting that time!

To think the line is too thin to be positive?

I tested PCR positive and only have a slightly sore throat. DD dragged it in from school and she was sick like with a head cold for two days and getting better now. DH tested negative on Monday but he snored through the night and has a slimy throat so I guess he has it too now. Omicron is highly contagious, my guess is, with the time it will become similar to a common as muck head cold.

kentuckyfriedpizza · 19/01/2022 11:11

Confirmed by PCR

HairyScaryMonster · 19/01/2022 17:19

Take it easy, the exhaustion is my main symptom and still bad on day 9. Napping for an hour or more each day just to get through. Not back WFH yet, partly because all my energy is gone looking after 7yo DD who's off but fine.

Enough4me · 19/01/2022 20:38

I'm exhausted on day 10 too. I am envious of those who have no symptoms. Most days I've had a sore throat, cough, tight chest with bouts of sinus pain, earache, headache, shooting eye pain and muscle aches.

kentuckyfriedpizza · 19/01/2022 20:59

Ugh I'm dreading it going on for 7-10 days. I really hope it doesn't. I feel absolutely dreadful.

kentuckyfriedpizza · 19/01/2022 20:59

Hope you both feel better very soon 😣

You too @kentuckyfriedpizza, one upside of sitting down feeling tired is that it's more time to be on MN. Have to take mind off feeling rubbish!

Today I have been able to WFH from sofa for part of the day and plan to gradually increase this. It's moving about that's more tiring.
