To think the line is too thin to be positive?

Not been feeling great, really tired and headachy and runny nose. Took the test on the left this morning and the one on right tonight. Both lines came up within 10 minutes. Seems to be getting darker however the line is really really thin! Have went for PCR.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else lines been so thin?

Definitely positive. Flowers.
@kentuckyfriedpizza can ask if you are boosted or others with recent positives? The reason I ask is two
Of my kids tests positive on Monday, quite miserable- throat, headache, fatigue, leg pains and mouth ulcers. Im wondering if I ve any chance of escaping it, we are not attempting to isolate from each other.
Are you boosted? I think it's really just your pot luck. You might not get it living with a positive case, you might catch it at the supermarket, there doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason. No I am not boostered, I have first 2 vaccines.

I've had everything going vaccination wise and got in fairly early so booster should also have been working. I think I have Omicron.

Enough4me · 19/01/2022 22:08

*vaccination was designed for first strain(s) do not sure if lower effectiveness for Omicron.

If there is a line feint or not it’s positive.

kentuckyfriedpizza · 19/01/2022 22:44

@Enough4me can I ask, have you had any problem sleeping during your 10 days of covid? I woke at 5 am yesterday and did nap for 4 hours. But today I woke up at 3 am and that was me for the day, haven't managed a nap and am wide awake. It's so strange.
**@kentuckyfriedpizza, @Enough4me thank you for the replies, yes I’m boosted. One of the kids has 2 vaccines and the younger one has none. I do agree that it is very random. I’m sick of testing! My 3 rd child shares a room with the other 2 and is still negative!
I hope your children make a speedy recovery. My daughter (8) had it in September and was absolutely fine, barely any symptoms and the few she did have were gone in a day or two. I hope your kids symptoms go away very quickly, not nice for them Thanks

I was boosted in December, got a faint line 7 days after first DC tested positive (clear line then developed a temperature), she basically slept for 24h then was fine except a slight cough. 2nd DC tested positive on Friday, also developed a temperature which lasted around 12h now has a snotty cough. DH succumbed on Sunday and has been pretty grotty with a temperature and fatigue etc. His vacc was October I think. I'm basically fine, bit snotty at the back of my throat and some sneezes. Interestingly DH and I both felt dreadful in the time after Dc1 tested positive and before we did, headache, fatigue, muscle aches.

I completely thought I'd escaped it, hopefully I'll be negative on Saturday and Sunday!

Your tests look exactly like my partner's when a PCR confirmed he was positive. He didn't feel too bad the first couple of days, then he was feverish for a couple of days then felt a lot better. Wasn't able to get two consecutive negative lateral flows and cone out of self-isolation early though.

I didn't catch it and nor did any of the family we had staying with us.

Enough4me · 19/01/2022 23:54

I'm a night owl and have a rigid pattern, so used to late nights and up at 7am. However, I have dozed off in day and normally would never nap. I'm also waking more in night, initially it was through coughing, now it's just waking and normally I sleep soundly.

I gave my partner Covid and he cleared it quickly (few symptoms and two negative LFTs). My DCs haven't caught it, but one had it before Christmas.

ShinyHappyPoster · 20/01/2022 00:01

OP does your isolation start from the lft positive or the PCR positive date? My lfts are the same as your's. I thought I didn't need to go for a PCR but now wondering if I should ... although I'm not honestly sure I'm fit enough to drive to the testing station.

@ShinyHappyPoster if you have symptom you need a PCR. You can order home PCR.

A line of any thickness is positive. Isolate from date of symptoms starting and take it from there. I didn't test positive till 3-4 days after symptoms started. Feel better soon.

Undertheoldlindentree · 20/01/2022 05:38

DD had three in a row like that. Her inly symptoms were tiredness and headaches. I had stronger cold-like symptoms (which is why we were testing). My first test result was pretty faint too but second and third were thick lines. We took PCRs on same day. Mine was positive, my daughter's came back as 'couldn't be read' and she was asked to take another PCR the next day. That came through as positive. When we tested for day six and seven I found some old style throat swab tests to use. Hers were both negative, mine still registered a strong positive line and didn't clear until days nine and ten.

So from our experience, it's still a positive, but the person with faint lines had milder symptoms and it cleared up faster.

No, you don’t need a PCR in this situation. If you had symptoms and tested negative with a LFD, then you should take a PCR, yes. But taking a PCR in this situation is a pointless waste of resources and you are not required to under current guidance.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 20/01/2022 08:16

You have symptoms and need to self isolate until you get results of PCR. Not sure what the confusion is...

Feel better soon.

If you have symptoms and have confirmed a positive with a LFD already then why would you also need to take a PCR?
