Tell you what OP, I lost significant amount of weight and kept it off. I didn’t go near any slimming clubs or bloody meal replacement shakes. Fine if you want to lose 10ths for an occasion (you will) - no use if you intend to stay slim and eat properly.
I did Weightwatchers 20 years ago and lost a significant amount but counting points and tracking everything that goes in your mouth is not sustainable for life…or not a happy, relaxed, spontaneous, normal life anyway. It’s a chore and makes a simultaneous enemy and crutch of food. Needless to say I put it all back on with an extra dollop for good measure.
I tackled my weight again five years ago. Totally different approach. I used my knowledge, which is the same knowledge that you possess, to ditch the crap I shouldn’t be eating and eat more of the things I should.
No points, no syns, no shakes, no bars, no soups, no diet foods, no slimming club, no scales, no weight watchers frozen ready meals, no bloody Muller Lights…which are frankly shit. They neither taste good nor satisfy. What’s the point of eating one?
Take it back to basics. You know what you should be eating, you know what you need to cut down on, you know what you’ll enjoy wasting calories on as a treat. Learn to cook healthy and wholefood. Take up some form of regular exercise, preferably something you’ll come to look forward to doing. For me that’s trail running…I have a friend who exercises by using a weighted hula hoop. Whatever suits you, your interests and your lifestyle. You choose. Don’t weigh yourself too often, go by your clothes. The scales are demoralising and you’ll become fixated on the numbers. Once a month is well more than enough. Personally I only weight myself every three months or so. I go by my clothes.
I lost and have maintained a loss of 10 stone using the common sense method. Used to be a size 24, now a fit and active long term 8. It took me two and a half years to lose, at an average of (I worked this out much later) 1lb per week. I understand this might not appeal to everyone but it certainly worked for me.
Most of you won’t have half of that to lose. Something to think about. Xx
