To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:04

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every meal.
I told her last week I was going to give it a go. I didn’t buy Muller Lights but instead bought some asda own yogurts which had almost identical calorie, fat and sugar content. Sat down to eat lunch yesterday and she came in and said “I thought you were doing slimming world?”. I said “I am” so she said “how many syns in those yogurts?” So I said “none, they’re the same as muller lights”. She replied “no, you’re meant to eat Muller lights!” And looked really concerned and worried!! I did owl noises in her face and told her the calories, sugar and fat etc were exactly the same so why would it matter??! She actually left the room muttering about how it won’t work if you don’t do it properly.

I did slimming world a few years back and stopped because of the cult like behaviour of the members and leaders. I thought I’d give it another go but she has totally put me off again! Nothing has changed!!
She’s been off with me ever since. WIBU to have laughed at her muller light concerns?? Common sense tells you it’s the calories etc that matter, not the bloody name on the pot!!

@LadyLaSnack

You really should have lured her back to for tea in your treetop house to have this discussion.
I'm in bed and don't think I'll make it to the toilet in time! Laughing so much at this! 😂
Blueberrycreampie · 19/01/2022 00:59

OP not been back for a while. I expect she's out hunting.

2YearsOfWastedTime · 19/01/2022 01:00

You are both weird

Mamanyt · 19/01/2022 01:10

You are totally reasonable in your thought process, but over the top at making owl noises at her. SO...both.

Juniper68 · 19/01/2022 01:22

Are you sure you didn't mean pigeon?

AsYouWishButtercup · 19/01/2022 01:35

OP I think you’re brilliant this thread has had me howling (or cooing Grin). Ignore the weirdos who are trying to diagnose you as some sort of bully, the snowflakes come out of hiding in January it seems

This thread has been hilarious for the responses (but not, imo, worthy of going into classics!)

However, can I just clarify - are you saying that one is a “snowflake” if they query the fact that it’s slightly unusual to make bird sounds in an office environment?

Yes, the thread is funny. But making any animal noises at your colleagues is surely not normal 🐷 🦆 🐶 🐱 🐘 🐎

I mean it's perfectly acceptable to make animal noises in a colleagues face....... not' 🙄
Clumsyvolcano · 19/01/2022 04:21

I can’t even envisage the ‘’coo coo’’ scenario, it’s so bizarre. I’d think you were a right weirdo. Who the fuck does that!? 🤣 you were very rude and strange!

You were right about the yogurts but maybe she likes things done a certain way and orderly.

Your behaviour was childish.

HeronLanyon · 19/01/2022 04:57

YABVU for deploying the incorrect bird noise. Basic argument rules to choose the appropriate bird for the circumstance.
You did mean ‘you are cuckoo’ and should have gone to your cuckoo call (obviously - it’s what we would all do).
Using the owl retort tipped her over the edge and I’m not surprised she went off muttering about ‘the rules’.

Btw (totally irrelevant given your unfortunate bird call blunder) but I agree with your point about calories/fat/labels.

Dreamitaway · 19/01/2022 05:09

YABU just for the owl noises alone.

You could have just educated her politely but you decided to act like a 12 year old? Bizarre.

Thursa · 19/01/2022 06:23

Seems rude, especially given you’re not paying for it yourself but just leeching off her books and meeting advice.

user1958493 · 19/01/2022 06:51

You say you didn't join you are just following her advice. But clearly that's not true.

And an owl noise.. WTF

Builderscrack · 19/01/2022 06:58

Why. The fuck. Are. People. Taking. This. So. Seriously?

All the peoples outraged at how ‘RUUUUDE’ op was are coming across as very uptight indeed! Lighten up 🙄

pictish · 19/01/2022 07:04

I think the same. I’d have laughed. I like silliness a lot.

I can’t help but feel like no one has the same sense of humour as me on this thread.

Builderscrack · 19/01/2022 07:11

@pictish this is a relief!

lborgia · 19/01/2022 07:29

I have to say that when I read the opening post, I assumed the owl noises were some attempt at saying you were brainy, like an owl, and she was dim. A stretch, and ride, but kind of made sense.

But then she just made the noises to create breathing room.....Confused

I'm afraid, for once, I cba to rtft. 🦉

pictish · 19/01/2022 07:31

I said so earlier in the thread. Think this sort of humour flew over a lot of heads. Not a criticism as we’re all different…but I laughed.

Dubbin · 19/01/2022 07:47

@Toasterandjam

You shouldn't give a hoot about the yoghurts oh but you did!😂😂😂
Love it!!! 🤣🤣🤣
OnlyTheTitosaurusOfTheIceberg · 19/01/2022 07:50

Having worked with two SW cultists a few years ago (when adding Options hot chocolate powder to a tub of quark was the height of dessert sophistication, apparently)…I’d take the OP and her owl noises every time. But like pictish I’m all for a bit of daft surrealist humour.

MichelleScarn · 19/01/2022 08:15

Is the owl noising linked to rexing in a supermarket?

MyFirstHypnosis · 19/01/2022 09:17

" I said so earlier in the thread. Think this sort of humour flew over a lot of heads. "

:) :) :) ROFL

MyFirstHypnosis · 19/01/2022 09:18

"OP not been back for a while. I expect she's out hunting."

DOUBLE ROFL

ClawedButler · 19/01/2022 09:56

@Blueberrycreampie

OP not been back for a while. I expect she's out hunting.
Hahaa, brilliant. You're very talon-ted Grin.

It's possible that they have kept hold of an old SW book and are following that - it's the way I first did SW before I joined properly, so I was doing all the unlimited potatoes thing and Muller Lights blissfully unaware that the rules had changed.

You’re both unreasonable slimming world is not an effective/healthy weight loss method
