I had visions of me looking my most lovely, glossy and polished but Christ I do not.

Coming down the aisle I look like I need neatening up and a good hair brush.

Anyone else?

I like my wedding photo because I am so young in it. Other than that I look very ordinary as back in the mid 90's we didn't really bother with professional make up and fancy hair styling. I didn't even have my nails done. I had my normal everyday hair style with a veil and pearl tiara type thing plonked on top.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 14/01/2022 22:11

Nope. I was far too pregnant to care though.

I love how happy, hopeful, terrified, determined and wet behind the ears we both look though.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 14/01/2022 22:13

Yes. He was a miracle worker cos they are the only photos I like of me really.

I didn't even want a photographer to start with.

howsoonisbedtime · 14/01/2022 22:17

We took the photos ourselves having a budget of zilch, I'm happy with them because we look soooo loved up and young, I did a good job on the hair and makeup bc I just went for a natural look (hate, hate, hate the dress though.)

Ah I love mine! Admittedly my wedding was only three years ago, but it’s a sunny day, my dress was stunning, my make up was pretty good (my hair was a bit meh but pretty enough) and I was ridiculously, glowingly happy. Plus I’m not hideous to start with.

mrsprefect · 14/01/2022 22:35

My make up was a bit much in retrospect but I look so so happy. Enjoyed having a wee look through them there!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/01/2022 22:36

Not really, I look like a chipmunk (teeth and cheekbones sticking out from grinning). I held my head too high and looked weird walking up and down the aisle. I lost a little more weight than intended and my dress boning didn't do the job once it had warmed up and the dress kept slipping down and exposing the top of bra. My mother ruined the confetti shots as she was making me pull the top of the dress up when they were taken. It was barely visible, it wouldn't have been.noticed but the hoiking was. Oh and my bra broke and I had the wire sticking out at one point, had to go and change it before the meal. I still like the dress and hair, but think maybe the dress shape wasn't ideal for my figure.

namechangetheworld · 14/01/2022 22:50

No. I've been married for seven years and I haven't looked at the photos since we saw them for the first time. I was nagged by my pushy parents into having a huge wedding that I didn't want, into buying a dress that didn't suit me, and having my hair in a style I didn't like. I was miserable for the whole day (my most vivid memory of the wedding is crying in the toilets alone at the reception!) and it shows in every single photo. I've always remember that neither my DH or my DF bothered to say I looked nice in either of their speeches either, which both gutted and embarassed me.

SunflowerSmith · 14/01/2022 22:52

I like how I looked because I did my own hair and make up and kept it simple, my Mum kept on at me about how I should have my hair up but I stuck to my guns and just took up a little at the sides.
I wanted to look like me and not have some French pleat or bun with tousely bits at the side.

My photographer was shit though, since then I've got into photography myself and can see how they could be so much better composed and lit.

My favourite is the video we had done though, my Dad has since died and I love watching his face when he walks into the living room and sees me for the first time in my dress.

Spottybotty20 · 14/01/2022 22:53

I look like the best version of myself, a little slimmer than usual (a 14 rather than a 16) better hair and makeup and I still love my dress.

My photographer was a super star though. I saw her photos and thought everyone in them looked like beautiful vibrant Disney film princesses and knew she was perfect. She cost a small fortune but I love the photos and they are worth it to me.
I’m planning to travel her way soon and have a family portrait session done with a similar vibe to have a coordinated set.

oviraptor21 · 14/01/2022 22:53

I'm in the camp of I usually hate photos of Mr but you can tell I'm happy with these as I still have one up on display. Given that it's plain old me in the photo, I look fantastic, the dress suits me and still looks contemporary, I did my own make-up so it's not dated at all either. The only thing I regret is my hair which although it looks quite funky, I wish I'd gone with my heart and never had it cut to a short style.

oviraptor21 · 14/01/2022 22:54

That should be me not Mr of course Hmm

EishetChayil · 14/01/2022 22:55

I look surprisingly ok on mine! I usually look like a goon on photos. So witchy.

DramaAlpaca · 14/01/2022 22:55

Yes. In the photos I look glowing and blissfully happy, which I was. The dress was a little bit too big for me though, I'd lost weight and didn't have enough time to get it altered. The photos look dated now, but it was 1990 so not surprising.

TYTY4 · 14/01/2022 22:56

No. I should have kept off the biscuits more!

TheVanguardSix · 14/01/2022 22:59

I came down with stomach flu or food poisoning (I'll never know!) just before the vows. We couldn't cancel. It had all grown wings and was taking flight so I had to carry on. God, it was awful.

So I look a vile shade of and the bride puked between snaps green.
I probably should have booked my funeral service directly after the wedding. I look a state in my photos.

My marriage was a 12-year disaster. Maybe I should have paid attention to the day's omen. Grin The good news is, I can now officially get rid of the photos!

HelloBunny · 14/01/2022 23:00

Yes, I look lovely in my wedding pics. Did my own hair (just washed & went, luckily a great haircut meant it sat right) & make-up. My dress was from a local boutique & looked great on the day.

Atmywitsend29 · 14/01/2022 23:03

Some of them. I got married in 2019.
Some of the pictures the photographer took are lovely, I think I look lovely, I loved my dress, my hair and make up I did myself.
Some of them I don't like...because my face was not built for candid shotsGrin

DrSbaitso · 14/01/2022 23:05

Yes. I'm beautiful in them and so, so happy. One of the little girls thought I was a princess.

katand2kits · 14/01/2022 23:06

Yes. Ok I was overweight (still am) and I looked way better five years previous. But I was happy. You can see in the pictures I'm happy. A bit of podge doesn't take away from that.

MimosaFields · 14/01/2022 23:07

Yes. 20 years ago and even though I'm no longer married, I still love them.

DDMAC · 14/01/2022 23:11

I hate my hair, she did a much nicer job with the bridesmaids, but other than that I looked great and all the effort I went to losing weight and finding the right dress paid off.

TippledPink · 14/01/2022 23:14

Yes, they are the best photos I have ever had taken of me. I don't look anything like them in real life! Scrubbed up well. Grin

mrstnov13 · 14/01/2022 23:29

I let my Mum pick my dress and wish I hadn't but it was £300 from Monsoon and I couldn't afford the £1000 dress in the bridal shop. I picked it to make her happy as she loved it. I don't like my hair in the photos, it looked nothing like the pictures I sent the hairdresser. I do love my make up, it highlighted all my best features.
