EXCLUSIVE

"Number 10 held two boozy parties the night before the Queen mourned Prince Philip alone.

Staff drank and at points danced until the early hours of the night of April 16.

Hours later, the Queen went to a socially-distanced funeral for Philip.

We have spoken to eyewitnesses. At a leaving do for a No10 photographer it’s alleged:

🥂Staff partied in the basement of No10, to music DJd by a special adviser.

🥂One broke Wilf Johnson’s swing in the No10 garden.

🥂Another was sent to the Co-op with a suitcase to buy booze.

Another event held to mark the departure of James Slack, Mr Johnson’s chief spinner, saw:

🍻 Staff gathered for a speech from Slack, with others dialling in via Zoom.

🍻Booze drunk and attendees spilling into the garden.

🍻Chatting and drinking into the early hours.

At the time Britain was in Step 2 of lockdown easing - which banned indoor gatherings and imposed the rule of six outside.

But the celebrations in No10 meant around 30 people were gathered for what a source declares were definitely parties.

Can No10 claim they were work events?

This was the scene in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle the next day.

Prince Philip’s funeral was restricted to 30 people, and the PM declined to attend, to make more space for family.

The Queen did not participate in the service. "

Not to mention KS wasn't literally the man making up the rules he was breaking.

I can see Keir Starmer's name on this list;

are you now of the opinion that it was wrong for our elected representatives to have parties during lockdown?

I didn't vote for the civil servants in Number 10 - did you?
@BashStreetKid Please do tell me which one of his esteemed colleagues you would rather be PM for the next 2 years…
I don't honestly want any Conservative to be PM, but given that we're stuck with them the least worst would probably be Gove. I loathe and despise him, but at least he's not as incompetent as Johnson.

NashvilleQueen · 14/01/2022 18:51

@JaniieJones Did you agree with Allegra Stratton resigning? Or Neil Ferguson? Or the Scottish chief medical officer who just went to her own second home in breach of the rules?

Be honest with yourself when you think about those questions. If you thought that any one of those was correct than you can't defend the no 10 parties.

@bakingbernie

Don't you think there are other things to worry about. I would rather our government focused 1) On getting the country back economically after the Pandemic. 2) Sorting out the looming energy crisis. 3) Try to do something about the very real threat of being involved in a war in Ukraine.

Are a few bottles of wine that important?

I agree these things need focussed on.

However I don't trust a government who couldn't tell the truth if it was the only option available to them to do this effectively.

TheHamburgler · 14/01/2022 18:53

Wow, I always thought I was a bit of an introvert, but if the Tory posters are to be believed, I went to a couple of hundred parties last year.

BashStreetKid · 14/01/2022 18:55

@Roussette

I agree. I followed the lockdown rules too. One of my DCs who lives in London has just said to me "if feel a fool for religiously following all the restriction rules. Wish I hadn't."

I have written a cracker of an email to my safe seat worst Tory MP in history. If anyone wants a copy to do the same let me know!

I am disgusted with Johnson, his Ministers, the civil servants the whole fucking lot of them.

Oo, yes please re a copy. Our MP isn't that safe, so it might actually cause him to lose a bit of sleep.
BashStreetKid · 14/01/2022 18:56

@JaniieJones

'It doesn't change the fact that the BBC and Sky aren't running the fucking country, aren't making laws, and aren't representing us on an international stage.'

Oh they think they are running the fucking country with their totally biased reporting.

Look, rather than bleating 'I followed the rulez!' (when many people didn't..we know from the thousands of proud flouting threads we saw here for starters) why not wait to y'know, see the facts not just the media's version of it.

But we have seen the facts. Johnson and Downing Street have apologised for the parties, so they're not denying that they happened or that they broke the rules.
BashStreetKid · 14/01/2022 18:58

There are photos of Sir Keir Starmer at a party last year too during lockdown.

Nope. Not true, @the80sweregreat.

Aw bless did someone get upset and press report?

Regardless, you hilarious how much you are having to twist to try to justify this shit.

Once more with feeling: It's been shown that KS wasn't hosting a party. Boris has literally apologised for doing so. I'm sorry if you can't get your brain around that.

Clavinova · 14/01/2022 18:59

Are you now of the opinion that it was wrong for our elected representatives to have parties during lockdown?

Has Sue Gray said whether our elected representatives have held parties during lockdown? I defer to Sue Gray.

BashStreetKid · 14/01/2022 19:00

@JaniieJones

'There are photos of Sir Keir Starmer at a party last year too during lockdown.'

'Are there really?'

'No.'

Oh but drinking alcohol whilst with colleagues is a party! Mumsnetters and the media have decreed it to be so Grin. It's either allowed or it isn't, make your minds up,

'hope the 'lonely, grieving queen' angle is hammered for all its worth by the press'

Oh it will be! Nevermind the fact they've hysterically gone on about Andrew hiding behind her skirts for ages. Now she's a tragic hero because she sat alone until the rest of them sat down 2 places down.

Look, even Johnson has accepted that what he went to was a party, even though he apparently couldn't tell at the time. So you're flogging a very dead horse there.
littledrummergirl · 14/01/2022 19:00

Some posters are definitely missing the point.
When I receive bad service in a shop, if I want them to do well in the future then I tell them so that they have the opportunity to improve their standards and do better in the future.
If they don't listen then that's up to them but they will no longer have my business.

The conservatives are currently receiving a huge amount of feedback telling them what the problems are but they are currently choosing to ignore this and are compounding their contempt for the laws they've made with their contempt for the people they are supposed to represent.

The only reason they might get away with it is because they are not alone in refusing to listen to what the population is saying.

All the parties need to get their collective heads out of their arses. We deserve better.

Roussette · 14/01/2022 19:01

Please remember that Keir Starmer doesn't know what a woman was, whereas Boris is quite the expert with his many wives and mistresses.

SueSaid · 14/01/2022 19:03

'But we have seen the facts. Johnson and Downing Street have apologised for the parties, '

He really didn't. At PMQ (it's on a wed 12pm watch, it's quite good, Johnson always runs rings round the sneering, jeering opposition) he said he went outside for 25mins and believed it to be a work event (bit like Starmer with his beer).

I don't think Boris Johnson has admitted hosting a party - he didn't send the email.

@JaniieJones While I rewatch the Prime Minister on Wednesday, will you rewatch what Oliver Dowden said at the Downing Street briefing on the 20th Mary 2020. Then we could both report back what was said?
TheHamburgler · 14/01/2022 19:05

(bit like Starmer with his beer).
We have a beer fridge in our office. Almost every day, some colleagues will have a beer and a chat. In your mind, that’s a party?

@Clavinova Since you do not know what a party is, how would tell if Boris had admitted to hosting one?
