EXCLUSIVE

"Number 10 held two boozy parties the night before the Queen mourned Prince Philip alone.

Staff drank and at points danced until the early hours of the night of April 16.

Hours later, the Queen went to a socially-distanced funeral for Philip.

We have spoken to eyewitnesses. At a leaving do for a No10 photographer it’s alleged:

🥂Staff partied in the basement of No10, to music DJd by a special adviser.

🥂One broke Wilf Johnson’s swing in the No10 garden.

🥂Another was sent to the Co-op with a suitcase to buy booze.

Another event held to mark the departure of James Slack, Mr Johnson’s chief spinner, saw:

🍻 Staff gathered for a speech from Slack, with others dialling in via Zoom.

🍻Booze drunk and attendees spilling into the garden.

🍻Chatting and drinking into the early hours.

At the time Britain was in Step 2 of lockdown easing - which banned indoor gatherings and imposed the rule of six outside.

But the celebrations in No10 meant around 30 people were gathered for what a source declares were definitely parties.

Can No10 claim they were work events?

This was the scene in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle the next day.

Prince Philip’s funeral was restricted to 30 people, and the PM declined to attend, to make more space for family.

The Queen did not participate in the service. "

@TheHamburgler

I can only assume certain posters are being remunerated for sharing their opinions on this matter.
Jeez, if the Tories were paying for the dafter Brexit and Keir Starmer efforts on this thread, I'd actually feel quite sorry for them. Just from a consumer perspective.
Roussette · 14/01/2022 16:59

Oh no you if you consume booze at work it's a party, sorry the media said so

Oh, don't be so ridiculous! If you can't tell the difference between one guy holding a beer socially distanced from 3 others, and people in a basement with a suitcase full of booze dancing to music set up on a laptop, I fear for your cognitive skills! And then in the garden till the early hours!

You really have to hope they are. It also may be why if one challenges their opinion they struggle if they are required to think slightly off script.

The rules about funerals, care homes etc caused so much pain and loneliness.

Should those rules have been relaxed?

Toblerone20 · 14/01/2022 17:06

Oh look now Starmer is drinking beer with others and it obviously looks like some kind of work party as there’s a guy eating in the background too….remember all the comments about how you’re not allowed to booze if it’s just work…but that’s OK cause he’s not tory scum?🤣🤣🤣🤣

Guess by everyone’s logic he should resign too really….oh no hang on it’s Labour so that’s okay it’s not really a party when it’s Labour drinking and eating together its just work….

Just goes to show they are all as bad as each other. Oh wait no…breaking the rules is now okay as long as it’s done in exactly the way Labour did it 😂😂

Nat6999 · 14/01/2022 17:07

I really thought BJ would have been gone by this morning, has he no shame?

SueSaid · 14/01/2022 17:08

'Boris admitted he attended a party then returned to work 25 minutes later. His words.'

They weren't 'his words'. He said he went outside for 25mins to thank his staff.

Not my definition of going to a party.

Exactly.

It's all a bit yeah but no but. I wonder if Ange is on here..

Don't you think we need a long and protracted enquiry first for no apparent reason?

@JaniieJones How long do you have to be at a party for before you have gone to it?

I can't believe anyone still needs to ask that first question.
Toblerone20 · 14/01/2022 17:12

Funny how this story isn’t immediately visible on bbc news as well….if it’s even on there at all!

Roussette · 14/01/2022 17:13

14 parties by these Tories in power versus 1 bottle of beer with 3 others by the Leader of the Opposition.
Laughable and pathetic

When I see such ridiculous whataboutery on threads, I just know the posters harping on about this are unable to defend the indefensible.

Notonthestairs · 14/01/2022 17:15

I'm ok with Sue Gray adding Starmers beer to her list of parties.

Because if Starmer's personal secretary invited 100 people to a party "Sensitive!" Set up trestle tables of booze and then watched as 30-40 people (including Starmer's wife) get merry I'd be happy to sack him too.

SueSaid · 14/01/2022 17:15

'How long do you have to be at a party for before you have gone to it?'

Well not 25mins for starters. It was work colleagues outdoors. Just like Starmer having a break with his beer. They were all mixing with colleagues, seems ok to me though we'll find out when the inquiry findings are released won't we.

That does not mean hospital visiting and care homes should have been a free from all, I'm staggered that folk really cannot see the difference.

CorrBlimeyGG · 14/01/2022 17:17

Because even the Telegraph couldn't spin it to make it look like a party.

IGotHam · 14/01/2022 17:20

Keir starmer with a bottle of beer and what, 3 co workers in an office is in no way equivalent to what the Tories have been up to. If you think it is then you are particularly hard of thinking.

Nope, sorry. Johnson had a zoom Christmas quiz with 2 colleagues present and the media said that was a party.
Notonthestairs · 14/01/2022 17:32

Is a quiz working?

Toblerone20 · 14/01/2022 17:46

Well we have broken out for the odd zoom type quiz at work and pre covid would frequently have drinks and food outdoors / in breakout sessions / when working late.

Only reason it hasn’t continued in person was because of WFH but obviously it probably would happen if having to attend the office.

It looks like there are at least four people in the picture possibly five and more since the door is wide open and some people are standing chatting in it…..

Such hypocrisy.

Oh do me a favour. Labour 'lovers' (just retorting after the 'tory lovers' erm, quip) can dish it but sure cannot take it.
Clavinova · 14/01/2022 17:58

Keir Starmer with a bottle of beer

Looks more like two beers to me - there's a bottle on the windowsill;

No idea what you’re on about.
It’s not tribal politics, we need integrity and decency.
