I'm a 10 on top and she is much bigger than me, I'd say a 14.

Tigertigertigertiger · 10/01/2022 20:06

Publicity seeking, much ?

sanbeiji · 10/01/2022 20:09

@CombatBarbie

The article I read on this showed the original modelled dress, it's supposed to be worn loose.... Presumably to stop it breaking. Def not fat shaming, she wanted it to be like a bodycon dress and that's what the company told her.
Yeah people saying she deserves a refund haven't seen the original dress. Also it's still on sale.. sorelleuk.com/collections/dresses/products/zara-chainmail-dress-red

Honestly every teenage girl has probably done something silly resulting in a wardrobe faux pas .. but paying more than £50 for the privilege??

People don't wear flimsy things to clubs, things with large holes cut out yes but not downright flimsy. At least not after the first time anyway... given how physical it is ;)

AngelinaFibres · 10/01/2022 20:10

Never mind the fat shaming/lack of fat shaming. How the hell was that piece of tat £75.00 😳

bcc89 · 10/01/2022 20:16

Actually, the girl fat shamed other people.

The company told her she should have gone up a size and she said "do I look fat to you?" Confused As if anyone buying the large size must be fat.

So someone did do some fat shaming... But not the company! Wink

AndTime · 10/01/2022 20:21

This happened in Liverpool and the lack of coat is entirely believable. You don't feel the cold so much when you are young and full of booze.

She is far from fat but the dress was made to hang not cling so a bit of responsibility on both sides I think.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/01/2022 20:25

@Clymene

I tell you what is fat shaming. All the women coming in here telling her that she's fat.

What a disgusting thread

I don't believe anyone has said she's fat. People have said she isn't a size 10/12. Unless you think anything over that size is fat?!
RedCandyApple · 10/01/2022 20:30

Exactly people saying we are saying she’s fat because she looks bigger just shows that that’s what they think it’s fat, anything above a size 12 meanwhile having a go at other people claiming we’ve said she’s fat?! No she just said she looks bigger than that size. That doesn’t mean she’s fat!

Exactly, like the people on here saying we are calling her fat because we said she looks bigger?! So anything above a size 12 is fat they are basically saying as no one has said she’s fat and I’m bigger than a size 12!

I don’t think you understand what fat shaming is
Dibbydoos · 10/01/2022 20:36

It's fat shaming even if she's not fat. Ridiculous tack to take by a retailer that wants to sell merch.

Alfredsothermistress · 10/01/2022 20:36

In fact, reading more of the replies here, There is a few posters here who don’t know what fat shaming is

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 10/01/2022 20:37

She was shoehorned into a dress that was too small. That doesn't mean she was fat. It just means her dress needed to be bigger. She got her refund after applying a bit of pressure, then decided to make something out of nothing by going to the Daily Star. She's a plonker.

WWDD · 10/01/2022 20:52

I don't really give a shit about the dress but why the hell are you sharing this article from such a disgusting paper?

Xmasgetaway · 10/01/2022 21:02

TBF when I was younger going out in central London, I never wore a coat.

It’s a pain to carry it, watch it so it doesn’t get stolen, have beer spilt on it so it stinks at work on Monday (I only had one coat when younger and poor), queue to put it in the cloakroom and collect……. As said above, I just drank loads which warmed me up, then got a cab home.
And no London bar tender would have ‘loaned’ their jacket to a clubber - they aren’t earning much and need it to get home themselves! They’d never see it again.

Westfacing · 10/01/2022 21:09

No matter how tight a dress is it surely shouldn't just fall apart!

HikingforScenery · 10/01/2022 21:13

@ChargingBuck

Publicity-seeking bullshit.

The young woman & her friend expect everyone to believe that they went out in December in just their clubwear, with no coats? Or any friends/staff who could lend a coat? Or money for a cab home?

I call hogwash.

I’ve seen plenty of people in Newcastle I’m free I g temperatures with no cost. I like to keep warm but people definitely do this.
RedCandyApple · 10/01/2022 21:14

It probably ripped as it wasn’t meant to stretch,
Like someone said it’s not a body con tight dress it’s meant to hang / be baggy

OP posts:
HikingforScenery · 10/01/2022 21:14

I can’t believe that dress costs £75. Shoddy merchandise indeed.
How does a medium not fit someone who is size 10/12?!

HikingforScenery · 10/01/2022 21:16

@Westfacing

Exactly! It doesn’t look that tight.

It looks like a too to me but it’s not so bad it should have ripped if it’s made well.

🤣🤣🤣 You’re not Northern are you! Totally normal to go out in deepest darkest winter with no coat.

It doesn't look like she is a 10/12 to me. Maybe she normally wears stretchy clothing?
RedCandyApple · 10/01/2022 21:20

Like I said when I was a size 12 it’s usually labelled as large so if I was 10-12 I would get large rather than medium , unless I was 8-10 then medium, I think a lot of people don’t like buying things labelled large though

OP posts:
AffIt · 10/01/2022 21:20

There is no way she is a 10/12 (incidentally, sizes generally based on a 'white woman' model which rarely, if ever, fit women of BAME origin).

This isn't fat-shaming, it's just 'young woman growing up in a white patriarchal society who sadly needs to learn who to buy from'.

MrsHunch · 10/01/2022 21:21

The dress was too tight for her, if you look at the photo in this article it's supposed to be a loose, draped cowl fit at the back, which it isn't on the woman.
She also says in her message she wears a medium and it said to size up so she bought a large however the dress doesn't come in a large size so she didn't size up as suggested.
