To ask who you would cast in Thursday Murder Club: The Movie?

Would you go for the usual suspects, i.e. anyone from Marigold hotel (and nothing wrong with that) or would you mix it up?

What about Donna's mum?

Alison Steadman and Leslie Manville, either as Joyce or Elizabeth.

Not particularly well known, but there is a comedian called Jeff Innocent and I always picture him as Ron. Sadly, not an actor and probably 20 years too young.

I have this all cast (in my mind!): Lesley Manville is Elizabeth, Danny Webb is Ron, Alexander Siddiq is Ibrahim and Imelda Staunton as Joyce. I'm still working on the other characters. I can't wait for this film!

From the very start, Elizabeth has been Sheila Hancock in my mind. I wouldn’t be able to accept anyone else I’m afraid.

Oh, and I thought this was just a hypothetical thread but I see there actually is a film in the making. How exciting!

In November 2023, Heart Breakfast's Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden guessed that either Dench, Mirren or Bill Nighy could be in the movie. Osman cryptically replied: "You've certainly got one right."

Are they not all a bit too old though? If this is gong to be an ongoing franchise it will take years? Surely they need to start a bit younger?

Nighy's only 73, so he would work ok I think.

Nathalie Emmanuel as Donna, and depending on whether she can pull off an English accent I think Jean Smart would make a great Elizabeth, Richard Armitage I believe would work better as Chris.

Julie Walters as Joyce, Imelda Staunton as Elizabeth, James Saito or Bill Nighy as Ibrahim. I’m stuck on Roy, someone like Richard Griffiths.

In fairness, PB is currently filming for the Prince Naseem biopic as boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, and there is a lot of comb over and Adidas going on!

Update! Thrilled Tennant is in (hopefully playing one of the baddies) and that they have chosen Naomi Ackie for Donna.
