To ask who you would cast in Thursday Murder Club: The Movie?

Would you go for the usual suspects, i.e. anyone from Marigold hotel (and nothing wrong with that) or would you mix it up?

I think Wendy Craig would make a good Joyce.
And definitely Eileen Atkins for Elizabeth.

Had to google her name, but Deborah Findlay from The Split, as Elizabeth.

And probably an unpopular choice, but Helen Worth as Joyce.

Elizabeth - Helen Mirren is a really good shout
Ibrahim - Anupam Kher
Ron - Ray Winstone
Bogdan - Theo James
Donna - Lenora Crichlow or Ruby Barker
Chris - Hugh Bonneville or Andy Serkis

All the suggestions for Bogdan are about 20 years too old - definitely needs to be younger. More around the 30 mark than the 50 mark! They don’t give his exact age but they do give Donna’s as 26, and they’re supposed to be similar in age.

Penelope Wilton for Joyce - in second book she says her late husband had a look of Richard Bryers - her on scene husband in Ever Decreasing Circles!! Yes I've spent too much time thinking about the casting 😆. Art Malick for Ibrahim.

Jack Deam (from Father Brown) would make an excellent Chris.

I always saw Elizabeth as Annette Crosbie - although she may be too old. Her DD is Selina Grifiths and would be just as good IMO.

Loving the idea of Brett Goldstein as Bogdan (surely the best character!). What do people think about Joanna Lumley as Joyce- or is she too tall?

I can’t imagine anyone other than Helen Mirren as Elizabeth. Even listening to the audiobooks, I hear her voice.

I think of Ray Winstone for Ron.
In terms of Bogdan, I could imagine someone like Daniel Craig playing him (wishful thinking, I know!)

Does anyone know when they might actually announce the cast?

I always picture Fiona Shaw for Elizabeth. Maggie Smith would boss her too, but I'm not sure if she would commit to multiple movies.

Penelope Wilton would be my choice for Joyce.

Absolutely agree on Penelope Wilton. She would be a perfect Joyce.
I enjoy listening to Fiona Shaw narrating the books and she does do an excellent voice for Elizabeth but when Lesley Manville was narrating, all I could hear was Mirren, which is why I’m very stuck on her!

I also think of Daniel Craig when I picture Bogdan! Dreamy but dangerous...

She’s done the last 2. It took a while to get used to her because Lesley Manville did different accents and voices for various characters. Her Joyce was perfection! But given that I’ve loved Fiona Shaw in everything she’s ever done, it wasn’t hard to get used to her style!

The nominations for Donna are way too old. she's supposed to be 25yo max. Osho lady could be her mum, though.

I thought Bogdan was about 45yo, he's a similar age to Jason, they were mates when Jason was in his fighting prime, and Jason seems like about 50yo.
