Your contract isn't with Hermes so contacting them is pointless - they won't be able to help you.

You need to speak to the seller and tell them it hasn't arrived yet - they can track it and either contact Hermes or send you a replacement.

As an aside, I've never ever had an issue with Hermes. Yodel are the worst around here.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 06/01/2022 14:48

I think a lot depends on what area you're in. I'm in south Yorks and get a lot of stuff delivered. I rank delivery services as follows (best to worst)

DHL
DPD
Hermes
Royal Mail
Yodel

Can't comment on UPS as don't think I've ever had anything with them.

I've had parcels stolen by yodel drivers on several occasions and they will blatantly lie and say it's gone to a neighbour. When challenged for the name and house number of this neighbour, the story changes to "oh I left it in your shed" (I live in a flat!)

On one occasion after I submitted a written, signed statement to yodel in order to get a refund, the package mysteriously and silently appeared outside my door... 🤔

Sorry op, that's no help to you, but I hope you do get it on time, and that your DH has a good birthday even if not!

Hermes are the worst
Hermes are amazing here. Our Hermes lady takes our parcels to the in laws if we're out!
itwasntaparty · 06/01/2022 15:06

Hermes are shite. I won't order anything that uses Hermes anymore, it's less of a PITA going to pick up rather than relying on them.

ThinWomansBrain · 06/01/2022 15:08

whichever delivery company, it often ends up being down to the local delivery driver - whether it's subcontracted or an employee model.

I used to actively avoid using any stores that I knew used hermes because they were so unreliable, but the last 18 months/2 years they've been great.

Tevion28 · 06/01/2022 15:39

Well hermes are looking into it now and said to allow 48 hours for a update. The seller have also got onto hermes for me.

I ordered the item again thinking this was a fluke and it seems that is now stuck in the system Sad

Check your wheelie bins/side gate anywhere they might have chucked it! More than once I've accidentally found Hermes parcels down the side of my house that weren't marked as delivered, no one had knocked and no card had been put through. No idea how long they had been there.

Nat6999 · 06/01/2022 15:46

Herpes as they are known in our house are useless, our delivery driver used to deliver at 5.30 - 6.00am because she had to get to work & hammer on the door like she was going to batter it down.

girlmom21 · 06/01/2022 15:47

If the company are good to respond cancel that second order and ask them to send a replacement or refund for the initial order.

Is it an item you can get from elsewhere easily?

Please don't say it's personalised!

fizzypop100 · 06/01/2022 16:08

YANBU. I had several parcels that never moved beyond the "parcel handed to courier" stage. So, they either had no staff to deliver them or they were stolen ?

Flingingmelon · 06/01/2022 16:15

I've found my people. My job is almost entirely dependent on UPS and they're a complete shit show.

DH only allows me to complain about them once a day. For the sake of all our blood pressure Confused

BasiliskStare · 06/01/2022 16:26

I sent a parcel via hermes ( so I was paying for it ) They said after about 2 weeks of trying to get in touch with them it was out in their warehouse. I got back about a 1/3rd of the value ( I had insured it for more but just got bored after weeks trying to sort it out ) it came to a point where I was just exhausted. . I would receive a parcel from Hermes ( though we had one over Christmas and it was emailed as delivered but we have a CCTV thing by front door - it wasn't ) I would not boycott a shop etc who uses Hermes - but I will never ever choose them again - Customer service ( never mind the service they are providing - I think is dreadful. ) But they are cheap

BasiliskStare · 06/01/2022 16:27

Sorry after 2 weeks out in their warehouse after 4 weeks Lost in their warehouse

Soffit · 06/01/2022 16:30

They are exceptionally slow at the moment. Today, their courier knocked so I acknowledged him from the upstairs window. By the time I got to the front door, he was gone. However (this is the miraculous bit) he actually came back ten minutes later (after squeezing in another delivery)!

Soffit · 06/01/2022 16:31

This was after being messed about for a week though!

Topseyt · 06/01/2022 16:37

My heart always sinks if I see that Hermes are to be the courier for any orders I have made.

Until very recently parcels were going missing left, right and centre round here and the local FB pages were full of people complaining about it. Hermes would claim to have delivered it, but no doorbells were rung and no missed delivery cards were left. if you went outside looking for your apparently delivered parcel it was invisible.

We now have a new Hermes driver and he does seem to be much better. He responds to our complaints on the local FB pages and will search the delivery depot if you message him.

Before him the service was unfailingly shit.

Fatgalslim · 06/01/2022 17:36

I cannot wait for tonight's excuse

Mol1628 · 06/01/2022 17:44

Oh no. I hate Hermes. This doesn’t look good! My parcel was meant to be delivered yesterday. Apparently it’s been ‘manifested for delivery’ yesterday at 6am and nothing yet!

The company I ordered from have refunded my delivery charge as I paid for next day. But I really did need it ASAP as I have Covid and can’t get out to buy it in a shop.

19lottie82 · 06/01/2022 17:46

I don’t know……. Hermes are bad but I think Yodel might have overtaken them in that department!

anonanonanon123 · 06/01/2022 17:46

Yep Hermes are the worst and their customer service is horrendous. I ordered 3/1 for next day, due to arrive on 4/1. It got to my local depot by 10am on 4/1. It's now sat there for the past 3 days, not moved, not been given to a courier. Our usual Hermes lady is lovely, apparently she's off with covid I found out on Facebook, but it appears no one is covering her round so Hermes are just sitting with it at their depot? You can't phone them, you can't phone the depot, there isn't even an address for the depot on the internet, Hermes have no customer service email address and their online webchat is a robot where you click options and if you type any questions not on the options it doesn't respond to you! USELESS.

pradavilla · 06/01/2022 18:12

They were my most hated delivery company until I moved house. We have had same guy for a few years and he's great and reliable.

They are quite shit though in general if I have an issue. I had a lawn mower showing as at my local depot for over a week. If never changed and I had to order a new one and bloody wait on a refund. I cld not get to talk to a human either K think it's pretty impossible. So good luck, Ul need it!

WhatICallMyUsername · 06/01/2022 18:31

I had a parcel arrive with Hermes on 2nd December. It didn't move in over 7 days. Tracking said to notify sender. They refunded, I reordered and it was delivered

On 20th December they marked it as delivered (it wasn't). By this point I had long since given up

2nd January I got an email saying my parcel was being delivered that day. It was a weighted blanket for my mum so now I have a free one thanks to them but it wasn't really worth the stress of a missing Christmas present

bogdanasreadbylesleymanville · 06/01/2022 19:29

I had a new one. Amazon return - they just pretended to pick it up! Only realised as I got the refund notification and still had the parcel. Amazon said I could keep my item, which I was sending back as it was completely broken. I've never had them lie on collections before, just the delivery ones where I've been standing in the window all day but was somehow not home when they tried/pretended to deliver it.
