Would your DC watch these T.V shows?

DS is 22, DH over Christmas has watched things on T.V which he likes watching such as carry on films, only fools and and horses, Dad's army. DS does not want to watch any of these things. DH thinks DS is missing out as DS does not want to watch these things with us as he's not interested in watching them. DH said when he was kid he loved watching those things and it's the perfect thing to watch at Christmas.

AIBU to ask if your DC around my DS's age would be interested in watching any of the programmes mentioned above?

I'm 54.
I wouldn't watch carry on films, or only fools and horses.

Cringy awful old people programmes.

My kids are 18, 16, 14. They would be actuvely offended by carry on films.

we do watch stuff together, but it is modern stuff mostly.
This week we went to cinema, mum aged 80, me aged 54, dds aged 14 and 16 and we all watched West Side Story.
We did it for my Mum as it is special for her. dds loved it.

It is all about taste. My dh likes Mrs Browns boys. I have to leave the room, can't stand it.

together we watch (not necessarily my first choice, but things we can enjoy together)
Death in Paradise
Taskmaster
University Challenge
Bake Off
Pottery Show Down

and my 14 year old loves a good Midsommer Murder or Vera.

My 18 year old watches almost nothing with us, expect news and Have I got News for You type programmes.

It doesn’t really matter whether someone else’s kid would be interested. This particular kid isn’t - there will be lots of people your dh’s age who aren’t interested.

Just because your husband thinks they’re ‘the perfect thing to watch’ doesn’t mean your son should sit through something he doesn’t enjoy. Would your DH sit through one of your son’s programmes?

Not everyone likes the same stuff. I wouldn’t want to sit through episodes of dad’s army.
