To let my DH take the flak from MIL after he got in at 6am!!

We both had works xmas do's last night - (a rare night out for me) and I had to work today so I sensibly made sure I was home by 11.30pm.
The children were staying with my IL's and being dropped back this am. My DH rolled home at 6am this morning having gone on a all day & night bender. I know he will of wanted me to ring his mum and get her to drop the kids back after lunch but I didn't!
She has a key so I can imagine she will of let herself in and given him a shock.
I want to think 'oh shucks it's xmas live and let live' but I am v.angry with him for being so OTT - he will be hung over all weekend now and gereally useless and poorly me.... But its me and the kids that will suffer the most. I have already had to postpone a trip out this pm as he clearly won't be fit to drive.

Arrggghhh!

Nope - not unreasonable at all. If he wants to act like a child he can be told off by his mother like one too!

Thanks - I hope that she does scowl and have a word, but in reality she will probably make him a cup of tea and amuse the kids for a bit - as she will have no idea that he got home at 6am!

I don't finish work until 1pm so I await the 'fun' at home.....
kids watching cbeebies, dh slumped on sofa or maybe he has rallied round and they will all be making xmas decorations

I would have done the same.

foxythesnowman · 22/12/2007 12:40

Oh I'd have done the same too. Infact I'd have probably told them Daddy is going to do baking/arts&crafts and take them for lunch too! He wouldn't let them down!

But then I'm mean like that

pinkteddy · 22/12/2007 12:53

too right he deserves all he gets. Mind you my MIL would have probably made a cup of tea for him and looked after dcs too!

macdoodle · 22/12/2007 13:23

I would stay at work for a few extra hours as an "emergency" had come up

No YANBU. Anyway I'm sure MIL has plenty of things she needs to be doing today. You were only thinking of her
