Please solve an on going domestic disagreement.

My OH waters down hand soap when it comes to the end to make it last longer, I think this is ming and think he should just open a new one… he disagrees!

YABU- it’s fine to water down hand soap
YANBU- it’s ming to water down hand soap!

I always do this with washing liquid - you need to rinse the bottle out for recycling anyway, so why not use the soapy water to wash dishes rather than pouring it down the plughole?

Why, it needs rinsing out to recycle,so why not use it all
pastypirate · 29/12/2021 22:16

I do this because when there's a only a drop left it won't go up the pump. It is a bit scabby though. My oreferred action is to balance the old one on top of the new one so the leftovers just drop into the new bottle.

NorthernSoul55 · 29/12/2021 22:29

I thought it was just my OH!
I particularly hate the unexpected watery shampoo.. Can't squirt it into your hands because its too watery to hold so its all wasted anyway.
I also buy cheap bubble bath and fill everything with it, including the soap dispensers.. Its all soap, right??

YANBU.

And communal bar soap makes me heave Envy

I cannot abide waste. If I won the euro millions, I would still cut open the last bit of toothpaste - even if I had 3 new tubes 😳.

@OnceuponaRainbow18 - buy one of these:

The soap lasts for ages, it doesn't go all mushy or make the basin dirty sitting on the side, and much better for the environment (the number of plastic bottles used and chucked away for liquid soap must be enormous given how quickly it gets used up).

NotTheGrinchAgain · 30/12/2021 04:45

Bar soap. Lasts for ages. You can have one each and yoh are more likely to wash your hands for the proper length of time while you lather up. Better for the environment, and no more soap arguments.

beautifullymad · 30/12/2021 06:38

I rinse out the old container with a tiny bit of water and pour it into the new dispenser.

This way I'm Not feeling bad about wasting soap and the new dispenser behaves.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 30/12/2021 07:48

I think even he realised that he added too much water yesterday as a new soap has appeared next to the watery one!

Don’t be ridiculous, it’s wasteful not to use it up - you don’t need to add much water to get most of it out. You sound like a spoiled brat.
