Have just found out that I failed to check out my sainsbury's order last night. I have had the slot booked for weeks to deliver Sat am, spent 2 hrs last night amending it but stupidly forgot to check out. Contactd head office today who said I had lost my slot and they could't help. We are having a party Sat night and family over christmas. I now have to find time to do a £200 shop on top of everything else. The worst thing is I know it's my fault. Feel a little better for having a rant.

OH GOD! You poor thing, Quick, try Tesco, Ocado etc. They still may have slots.. ......

People will understand. Grit your teeth and get it done then open a bottle and relax this evening. Panic now but really it's no biggie - good luck with it all.

Heifer · 21/12/2007 12:04

oh every sympathy!..

If you can't find any other slots then I would go out ASAP any buy it all as it will only get busier!

As we have just moved, and we are going to Chester Zoo tomorrow we have decided to opt out of the big shop this year - and only making do with what the local village shops can offer, and what we have in our cuboards! (although have to admit to winning a hamper before we moved)

Wait for my post pre christmas about what a crap time we had!...

If you have to actually venture outside try not to be too bothered by it, personally I don't understand why people hate shopping, even atthis time of year, but dp will not come with me if he can help it, he hates it.
Get someone else to have the children, maybe dh/p? and go in the evening, at a time it would normally be hectic at home, bath time is always mad in my hosue so I'd go then and get dp to deal with all that, take your time, wander round and think of it as the last thing to do til it's christmas, you'll only really get stressed if you go thinking it's going to be stressful. Oh and take a magazine, or buy one there to read at the checkout queue.

VictorianSqualor · 21/12/2007 12:07

Oh also, if youre doing a big shop, I'd bet that when you put it away you haveto throw other stuff away?? We always have t throw things away when I put shopping away so get that done before you go, or get dp/h to do it whilst you're out. It's much easier if you can just shove it all away when you get home.

I did exactly the same a couple of years ago, but didn't find out until the delivery didn't arrive. I was bereft, didn't know how we'd manage.

DH rescued me. He took my original list (they'd confirmed it in an email) with my amendments (the bits I'd added when I forgot to checkout), and went to Tesco at 11 p.m. on the night before Xmas eve, while I had a calming bath. Then we put it all away together.

He got nearly everything, the things that he didn't get weren't missed. Could your OH help you tonight?
