To wonder why I didn’t get engaged this weekend?

(Lighthearted because knowing me I’ve probably got totally the wrong end of the stick)
Last week I stumbled across a ring box hidden away (I honestly wasn’t snooping I just accidentally found it while putting something away). Obviously I didn’t say anything. But now we’ve had Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day and no proposal.
I’m just baffled generally tbh as we’re not that type of couple, we’ve always said when we want to get married we’ll just start planning it together. We’ve had quite an up and down year with covid obviously and DP got ill in the summer, but we also had our first successful pregnancy so I thought maybe he’d decided to make a big gesture. But nothing.
Has he changed his mind? 😂
Was it not actually for me? 😂
It’s so silly I just keep laughing at myself. What’s going on?? 😂😂

Sorry but it might not be for you (not suggesting another suitor) someone might have asked him to look after it (friend/sibling), maybe in a best man role.

Cause simplest answer is usually correct eg, earrings. Though I once got a gift 4 OH and actually completely forgot about it until I came to buy presents the year after.... hopefully that's not it as the suspense may be too much.

Do what I do - Get the box, storm into the room and either scream "Yes! Yes I will!" Or "The suspense is killing me! Is this a voucher to make sandwiches for you for the rest of my life and put up with your man joke's and man smells, which I totally would! Is iiiiiit!?" Be all giggly and humorous and cute so he cannot resist telling you.

If it's not - Burn him at the stake.

Do you live together? Just wondering if not, maybe it's an inherited ring. Maybe it's not an actual engagement ring. Could it just be an ordinary ring? I agree with you that I'd rather plan it together. It's more normal to let a woman choose the ring.
