To ask how you view the months of the year in your head?

When I think about the months of the year in my head I view it as a clock, like january js 1, June is 6 etc. I view it in my head like that, however, upon speaking to a couple of my friends about this tonight, they said they just think about it like a list. Wondering if anyone else thinks of it like I do?

C shaped. January at the the first point and December down the bottom

OopsadayZ · 30/12/2021 16:22

@astoundedgoat

List, but a horizontal one, not vertical.
Me too.
CactusLemonSpice · 30/12/2021 16:26

This IS interesting. I have Seasonal Affectice Disorder, I wonder if I visualised the whole year as a wheel (eg seeing it all at once, not 3 months at a time) this would help with my seasonal moods? I wonder if we can change our visuals!

ponkydonkey · 30/12/2021 17:54

My year starts in September 😬
And is like a long list of dates and highlights of birthdays, holidays, Christmas etc

More like a calendar road

I can see in 3d which is handy as I'm a designer

Notjustanymum · 30/12/2021 18:39

Like a chart, with a sharp downward turn in January, creeping up to medium happiness through March, April and May, reaching a Zenith in July and August, then a gradual decline down to December!

Daisy38 · 30/12/2021 19:44

A horizontal timeline 😀

gosling24 · 30/12/2021 19:59

A list not a clock, but also relate to certain events and the amount of daylight.

MammaGnomes · 30/12/2021 20:23

@MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry

Mine is weird.

Jan feb mar April may June July
Aug
Septemberoctobernovemdecem

Hope this posts properly

This is similar to mine only my September is where your December is so it kind of loops round and then December joins onto January so it's like an oblong shape. If that makes any sense at all
zippygeorgebungle · 30/12/2021 20:41

Sort of an semi circle, starting in September and going all the way back to the start after 31 August. 1 September always feels like New Year to me.

I see weeks as infinite horizontal lines of weeks though, totally separately from my mind's eye month calendar. I think I saw weeks as one on top of the other when I was younger though, like on an Outlook calendar.

110APiccadilly · 30/12/2021 20:47

A loop. Like a narrow strip of paper joined into a loop with each month written on the side in order. (I'm now wondering whether maybe someone did this with me to explain months when I was very young?)

merryhouse · 30/12/2021 20:50

It's a loop. September (beginning of the school year) is in front of me, about where the bar is when you're standing at it. December is just behind my neck/head - which must mean that October and November are somewhere on a line running through me front to back - and June (containing my birthday) is about eye-level. (January to May appear to be relatively squashed up in this model.)

I have a vague feeling for the days of the week, too (horizontal line in front of me), but it's not as immutable.

Space-time synaesthesia is fascinating.

peaceanddove · 30/12/2021 20:59

In my primary school classroom, the reading corner was decorated with a row of 12 vivid posters showing each month of the year. So in my mind's eye I have always pictured the months just like they were shown in those posters.

So March is a field of daffodils and gamboling lambs. July is a brightly coloured parasol on a sandy beach. October is a drift of Autumn leaves and December is always a cluster of baubles and a single candle. Conveniently my visual 'year' turns a corner in March & September because the posters in the reading corner turned a physical corner at these months.

keziahmee · 30/12/2021 21:01

Snowy, Flowy, Blowy,
Showery, Flowery, Bowery,
Hoppy, Croppy, Droppy,
Breezy, Sneezy, Freezy.

Ikeabag · 30/12/2021 21:07

Horizontal blocks. I see the week like this, and numbers too. The days in the weekend are bigger, and wherever I am in the year, that month is biggest and in front of me and I can look "forwards" (to the right) and "backwards" (left) in time. It's like one of those shitty facebook 360s stood still!

Ikeabag · 30/12/2021 21:08

Does anyone have colours for days, numbers etc?

OverByYer · 30/12/2021 21:11

I think of it in colours
Jan - March =grey
April - Jun = red
July - sep - Yellow
Sep - Dec =Orange

DroopyClematis · 30/12/2021 21:13

Like others, a horizontal timeline, but come January it'll be different.
The last 20 years have been spent with September being the first month . I retired this year and so January will be the first month. Feels weird.

coodawoodashooda · 30/12/2021 21:14

@AdamantEve

Horizontal list - like a timeline
Phew. I thought it was just me.
Mummadeze · 30/12/2021 21:19

This thread has blown my mind! I don’t think like any of you. I just know what they are subconsciously but don’t ‘see’ anything. Is there something wrong with me?!

SirChenjins · 30/12/2021 21:24

A list that goes horizontally. The winter months are black and dark, and I dread them. They get lighter from March onwards and the summer months are bright sunshine with lots of greenery and flowers.

LoveFall · 30/12/2021 21:28

A horizontal list, punctuated by the Equinoxes and Solstices.

Pengweng · 30/12/2021 21:32

Like a timeline horizontally.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 30/12/2021 21:32

A horizontal banner. I googled and its fascinating to see the images, how other people "see" it!

WingingItSince1973 · 30/12/2021 21:33

Like a circle but its more the colours or shades of one colour that stand out the most. Days of week the same.

Spidey66 · 30/12/2021 21:46

In 3 month segments....Jan-March 1st quarter April -Jen 2nd etc.

Oh seasons but that's not from Jan. Spring is March-may, summer June-august, autumn is Sept to Nov, winter Dec to Feb.
