to expect TESCO not to sell OUT OF DATE MEAT?

I went to Tesco yesterday, and bought two packets of those chilled frankfurters - to find today, when I went to use them, that the use by date was the 17th of this month!

I am really really cross, I had plans for those sausages, and can't get back there again!

My dh will eat them, he always eats out of date stuff.

mylittleponey · 20/12/2007 20:52

can you call them?

cornsilk · 20/12/2007 20:52

What type of plans?

lazawreath · 20/12/2007 20:52

What sort of plans did you have for the sausages?

coldtits · 20/12/2007 20:53

I could try, but will probably get through to the cretinous oaf who seems to run the store single handed in the evening. Him and his acne, which seems to have more social sparkle and wit than he does.

I'll try.

lol @ plans

Take them back and complain sternly. You might get free frankfurters for the next month

coldtits · 20/12/2007 20:56

I have lost the blardy receipt.

I was going to do them hot with pasta.

Put them in a jiffy bag and send them back, and put a nice smelly piece of fish in with them.

coldtits · 20/12/2007 20:59

I am going to go and complain right near the tills. I've found the receipt now.

tescos are crap for this - I've taken loads of meat back to them because it was off!

Only on Sunday, opened a joint of beef to do sunday lunch and it absolutely stunk - they always replace and give you the money back, but its not the point, its so irritating.

I've vowed to go to Saninsburys from now on.

I brought some pork chops in asda on wednesday went to cook them last night and the use by date was tuesday.Phoned and spoke to the fresh meat manager and he said to bring them back for a refund and replacement i said no way i want the money i'm now going to have to spend on a takeaway so im going to go in there later and get £15 and a replacement.

crokky · 21/12/2007 09:19

...is fairly typical...have been really annoyed with some of the stuff from tesco recently

professorplum · 21/12/2007 09:21

If you take out of date stuff back to sainsburys you can get a refund and £5 voucher from customer services. If you want more than that you have to get the manager.

kslatts · 21/12/2007 09:33

I'd write to head office.

coldtits · 21/12/2007 13:20

I rang Tesco this morning, and told them. Oik told me he was very sorry and would certainly give me a refund, and in this special case, a replacement.

I told him that considering the illegality of selling out of date raw pork, I thought I would not be having a replacement, thank you very much, and that I expected a voucher as a gesture of goodwill.

He said "Well, if you could bring them into this store then..."

And I said "No. I am taking them to my local store, and you are going to ring them and inform them of the circumstances, thank you."

He agreed.
