And the 90s are back!

Isn't that a Taylor Swift lyric!? Came back like a 90s trend.

PizzasPlease · 26/12/2021 09:48

I'm 40 and feel I'm too young to wear it.
I'd associate it with someone early 50s.

UserBot · 26/12/2021 09:49

''But I come back stronger than a 90s trend''.

Haha love it. I'm sure I'm not the oldest Swiftie.

You see, actually, that makes me think. While half wondering if ck one is dating me I'm also half wondering if I'm too old to be a swiftie.

I am just meandering between these two parametres like a rumba on a tightrope.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 26/12/2021 09:59

I used to wear CK One in the very late nineties. And Acqua di Gio

I wear Liz Earle botanics now

SuperSange · 26/12/2021 10:06

Who cares? If you love it, wear it! I alternate between that and Opium, and I don't care two shits. I like them.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/12/2021 10:43

The people who will recognise Obsession as having been around for a while are the people who have............... been around for a while.

This is true. The smell of Obsession or Escape can whip me back in time to the 90s, but a younger person would just judge the smell without the associations.

LaBellina · 26/12/2021 11:07

Actually my ex used to wear Obsession back in 2006. He was 33 back then.

Catflapkitkat · 26/12/2021 11:13

I was a posh department store looking at make up when the young and very beautiful sales assistant leans over the counter and asks 'Ohh are you wearing Angel?' I was. 'I love Angel, my nan wears all time'. What a mood kill. But I am in my mid 5Os and have been wearing it since 90s. I could have probably been her nan if I had started early.

delilahbucket · 26/12/2021 11:16

I wore that when I was 18-19.

AliceAldridge · 26/12/2021 11:30

It doesn't matter what anyone else's connotation is. The right perfume just makes you feel like you. My mum has worn Chanel No 5 since the sixties with no plans to change. I wear Ralph Lauren Romance because it reminds me of being 20. I like Tommy Girl for the same reason. I don't wear it all the time but always have a bottle.

Phyllis321 · 26/12/2021 11:54

I’m not sure most people are sufficiently au fait with perfumes to immediately identify and date them. They smell slightly different on everyone anyway. And who cares? Classics are classics for a reason.

3scape · 26/12/2021 11:56

My mum's favourite. She's 73

vampirestockingfiller · 26/12/2021 12:14

I've worn it since I was 17, I'm 40 now.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/12/2021 12:18

This thread has made me think about my perfumes, and I've realised I'm in an early noughties time warp with my Ormonde Woman and Philosykos and F de Bois and Eau d'Hadrien. I haven't added new favourites since then, and now I'm thinking about it, I don't plan to.

cookiemon666 · 26/12/2021 12:27

I wear ckone too. Bloody love it and I'm 48

billy1966 · 26/12/2021 12:28

Mid 50's, I loved it on my friend for years, it really suited her.

UserBot · 26/12/2021 12:31

It's funny, I hate chanel no 5, but chanel no 19 I love. I won't wear it though as it's my aunt's, she has dibs on it (I feel).

UsernameInTheTown · 26/12/2021 12:40

Mid 40s as someone who wore it first time around, yet my 35 year old DS wears it as do 17 ish year old yoofs. If I had to give a figure I'm going 42.

bedheadedzombie · 26/12/2021 12:55

I wear chanel nr 5. According to when that came out I must be half past dead.

If you like it, wear it with confidence! It suits your age and your/our age group will think it's a normal smell anyway.

lightnesspixie · 26/12/2021 13:00

Mid 50s

papooshka · 26/12/2021 13:04

Well I'm 52 and used to wear it and still do, one of my favourite perfumes ever!

NotSoNewAndShiny · 26/12/2021 13:07

Wow - CK Obsession. I've been taken down memory lane with that name. Grin

Wasn't it the one in the silver or transparent bottle or was that CK One? Not sure anymore but I vaguely remember the old Calvin Klein days.

In your 40s or 50s, I guess but only because you've asked us to guess. I think any age can wear it if they like.

nellienolan · 26/12/2021 13:12

Used to adore Obsession. I wore it all through my 40s and early 50s.

Karmagoat · 26/12/2021 13:14

I'm 46 OP and still wear Obsession. Have worn it since the late 80s. Who cares? I still love it.
Tbh I like vintage scents in general, they don't make perfume like that anymore!

JaninaDuszejko · 26/12/2021 13:17

I'm sitting here not wearing perfume and I think I will now go and put on ckOne thanks to this thread Smile. Old perfumes are still around for a reason, they are classic. And the vast majority of people don't know enough about perfume to be able to tell what someone is wearing and whether it has dated or not.
