to expect the security guard to hear just a little desperation in my voice and offer 20 pence

The fog is coming down thick, and I have - like a pratt - left my purse at home.

DH was coming to collect me, but as 2 DC's will be in the car I said I would get a cab. Until I realised the purse was not in my bag.

I scrabbled around and founr £1.30, so just need .20p for a bus. everyone else in my dept has gone, and we're on our own so not one near buy to ask either.

Called security to see if there was any vending refunds for me and explained why(when we loose money from machine it goes in a book on the desk), he checks and says 'no, sorry love' and hangs up.

I am desperate for DH not to bring DC's out in car, in thick fog, but hav eno other way of getting home.

I know this is all my fault for not brining my purse, but until the fog I had no reason to need it!

Can you not get a cab and then get your purse and pay driver when you get home ?

Trying to ring DH now as nutcracker just made me go D'oh. But just phoned DH and he said it is fine in our town so he will come.

agree with hatrick - I think if you asked to borrow 20p you would have got it.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 20/12/2007 17:10

why dont you ask outright.

LowFat · 20/12/2007 17:18

No, dont like to ask - besides as I work in a financial institution I will probably get told the security staff are'nty allowed cash in pockets when on duty.

LowFat · 20/12/2007 17:41

Smash the vending machine with a chair.

Take money owed to you from previous losses.

When security guard rushes to investigate, slip past him and snaffle his wallet from the jacket he will have conveniently left hanging over the back of his chair.

Leave him an IOU.

(Isn't that what everyone does?)

LowFat · 21/12/2007 10:44

at HC suggestion.

Thankfully when DH arrived to get me the fog had cleared and the ride home was quick and event free!
