Unless that pastry is for a loving prepared delicacy for the little fur balls then you are completely unreasonable.
(They’re gorgeous)

MousesBack · 24/12/2021 08:51

Cute! But must say it's a relief now that my elderly kitty can barely get on the sofa any more, let alone a kitchen counter!

llanfairfechan24 · 24/12/2021 08:52

Shut out for a few minutes maybe, but not for long. You'd miss their cuteness.

rufflyshirt · 24/12/2021 08:56

Oh cute!! They were helping :)

ThinWomansBrain · 24/12/2021 09:11

we had a part burmese cat when I was growing up Xmas Grin

Their first Christmas is the best, enjoy - and don't shut them out of anything.

JustLookingThanks · 24/12/2021 09:27

@Choccyp1g
I immediately thought of The Tale of Samuel Whiskers by Beatrix Potter too. Here's a picture of Tom kitten wrapped up in pastry. Luckily my cat is only interested in jumping in the sink and sleeping in the washing up bowl. Grin

Cute 😍

Pinkyxx · 24/12/2021 09:29

Commiserations OP. We have a similar issue with our little devils, we operate a ''guard'' rota when cooking now as they've proven they can't be trusted and sadly they can open doors! They worked out they could jump up and hang off the handle!!! Grin

TheBalletCats · 24/12/2021 09:32

YABVU not to have appreciated their help, frankly: just look at those adorable wee faces, how could you think of shutting them out of the[ir] kitchen?!

TheCreamCaker · 24/12/2021 09:44

What gorgeous little things Smile

Hobbesmanc · 24/12/2021 09:45

last night my youngest got into a bowl of smoked salmon pate that was part of my Christmas Eve buffet.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 24/12/2021 09:50

YAB massively U

Know your place. You are merely staff to your furry overlords. Should they wish to walk on pastry, your job is to provide said pastry and a chorus of ‘Awww, they’re so cute’!

Ellmau · 24/12/2021 16:54

They look gorgeously Machiavellian. SURely paw prints are a feature!

BananaPant · 24/12/2021 16:56

I will happily look after them for you if they are mischievous in your kitchen... 🤣

I adore kittens ❤️

Those kittens are gorgeous! We once left a delicious turkey, leek and creme fraiche pie on the side for a minute.... Dcat ate her way through pastry to sample the filling. We cut off the end and ate the pie. She's an Asian/Burmese cross who is now 20 and outgrown those days (though was yelling for roast chicken earlier and scratched me when it didn't appear!) she's usually a lovely cat though.

Adorable.

They need a) a heavy butter dish and b) a suitable observation post from which they can monitor your better and cheese related activities.

This worked perfectly for me for sixteen years. However, this year has seen the now somewhat ethereal fluffball forget everything that even the intelectually challenged Johnny-Come-Lately can grasp.

I came downstairs earlier to see DP making pastry, the younger cat, good as gold, watching from his designated supervisor's area - and the roughly 0.24 microgrammes of fluff that is the original cat watching DP's every move in case a scrap of fat or cheese was left unattended not bloody likely with her around from the vantage point of sitting on the toaster.

FangsForTheMemory · 24/12/2021 17:11

My cat is not allowed in the kitchen. He's not above stealing an entire roast if he got the chance.

Georgeskitchen · 24/12/2021 17:19

How very dare you question the behaviour of Royalty!! 🤣🤣

PlanktonsComputerWife · 24/12/2021 17:22

If this were a dog, you'd have page upon page of comments shrilly screaming how vile and grim it all was.Wink

Jinglemychristmasbells · 24/12/2021 17:26

This reminds me of a Xmas we spent with my mom her kitten stole the beef joint off the side it was hysterical because the beef joint was bigger than the kitten.

FredWinnie · 24/12/2021 17:31

Demon kitty sometimes wages war on vegetables, particularly tomatoes and sugar snaps, which get thwacked across the kitchen and hunted down

Wolfiefan · 24/12/2021 17:31

I grew up with Burmese. This is just the beginning. Xmas Grin
And if you shut them out they will just figure out a door opening trick.

SummaLuvin · 24/12/2021 17:34

gross.

this is why I hate eating in other peoples houses, or homemade treats if I don't know people well.

I know OP will have thrown out that pastry, but she probably lets them wander all over the counter where she preps food.

YANBU there! I love both- gorgeous kittens OP.

@SummaLuvin I feel the same, not the animals the nose picking. I can’t bear anyone who touches their face and then preps food or indeed my glasses or cups. I’d take paw prints any day Grin
