Do you still love your wedding dress?

I'm recently married and we have just received our wedding pics.

Really dislike how I look in my dress and my hair. Already!

Do you still look back and love how you looked?

OP posts:
AJ1425 · 21/12/2021 22:00

Still love my dress 7 years on. Didn't love my hair even on the day.

rainyskylight · 21/12/2021 22:00

2 1/2 yrs married. Yep! Was thinking about getting it out again soon..

Megan2018 · 21/12/2021 22:01

Yes! I’ve never looked that good before or since. I bloody love my photos and dress.

Happycamper78 · 21/12/2021 22:03

No. 30 years ago now but the style didn't age well - big meringue dress and hair nothing like I asked for. But I don't think about it, I remember it as a wonderful day!

Ohyesiam · 21/12/2021 22:03

I still love my dress. Not soooo keen on the body inside it though sadly.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/12/2021 22:03

Yes. It was a wonderful dress and 30 years ago I was 31 and three stone lighter. Always loved it though. It was the one that felt right when I put it on.

LemonCake79 · 21/12/2021 22:03

Yep. I've been married 15 years so the dress and hair is of it's time but I look thin, young and beautiful. In fact, DS once said 'who is that lady with daddy in that photo' Hmm

Burntcandle · 21/12/2021 22:05

Yep! Although I loved my dressbut hated my makeup in the photos. Doesn't matter though as the day was amazing and so much more important than what I looked like!

KatyRebecca84 · 21/12/2021 22:06

I don’t hate it but I hated my hair and makeup and that was straight after! Even on the day my makeup felt caked on and not ‘me’ but I was too anxious to say anything! I had a wedding up do for my hair as that’s what you do right?! Even though myself and husband prefer my hair down! I was an anxious mess and seemed to get it all wrong! Although as soon as I walked down the aisle I relaxed and enjoyed the after party!

I look back at pics now (5 years ago) and wish I had done it all differently but it’s done, I can’t change it so try not to think about it!

Rhannion · 21/12/2021 22:06

Yes I do. It was exactly what I wanted; antique gold silk Edwardian style with embroidered bodice, slight train and long pointed sleeves, worn with louis heel ankle boots.

dittheringdoldrums · 21/12/2021 22:09

Nope. It wasn't the kind of style that I should have gone for as it wasn't really "me". I look fine, it's a lovely wedding dress and objectively I look like a proper bride. But quite a lot of people told me they were surprised I'd chosen the style I did (not in a horrible way, mind), and they were absolutely right. I ended up buying it as I went dress shopping with my mum and kind of felt pressure to buy something. I'd love to rewind and wear something completely different.
Plus my hair could have been so much better. I was a bridesmaid a few years after my wedding, and the hairdresser did an amazing job with my hair, basically achieving what I'd asked for at my wedding and had been told they couldn't do with my kind of hair Sad

Concestor · 21/12/2021 22:09

Yes. 13 years later it's still perfect. But I had to look hard at the time to find something that wasn't strapless as that's all that was in the shops then. So I ended up with something that's actually what seems to be in bridal fashion now.

OGenkiDesuKa · 21/12/2021 22:10

Yep! But I only got married a week ago. Grin
And considering I had had a csection just 6 weeks before I think I looked great!

DrSbaitso · 21/12/2021 22:11

Yes. The dress, the hair, the makeup, the jewellery. I was beautiful.

Dorismargaret · 21/12/2021 22:11

Dress is OK. Don't like my hair

Hankunamatata · 21/12/2021 22:11

Yes but hair was a bit meh

Hippopotas · 21/12/2021 22:11

No. I was and am too overweight so I look back and just look fat my hair looks flat and boring. It doesn’t help that i was persuaded out of my dream dress cause everyone no one else liked it.

Wellhungdonkey · 21/12/2021 22:12

Actually yes. 21 years on and I do. It was a bit understated and didn’t feel amazing on the day but looking at photos now I still love the look.

NameChangeCity123 · 21/12/2021 22:13

Yes ❤️

25 years after said wedding, I think my dress is still beautiful, my hair, makeup and accessories not so much. I also think I look dangerously thin in my pics, but I thought I was fat. Oh to be that fat again.

Redburnett · 21/12/2021 22:14

Kept the dress for many years but finally sold it very cheaply on ebay last year. It was fine at the time, but no sentimental attachment to it. I looked OK, but not great in it.

TomAllenWife · 21/12/2021 22:15

No, bloody expensive but going for a white dress with colour bodice was never going to age well

Hated my hair on the day and it's still awful when I look at photos

I would love to get married now 20 years on with more confidence about what I like and what suits me

Okbye · 21/12/2021 22:17

Omg yes I LOVE my dress (married in 2011)
I want a vow renewal just so I can wear it again 😄

Mum45678 · 21/12/2021 22:17

Yes, I wished I’d got more photos of the long train. Annoying thing is I’m no longer married as my EXH cheated on me after 2 kids and 8 years of marriage Hmm I gave it to the charity shop after we divorced. I’d saved it in the hope one of our DDs might like to wear it as it was quite a classic style of dress.

It’s just a dress that you wear for one day. Is it really the end of the world? I’d take a happy marriage over wearing the best dress / having the best hair etc on my wedding day.
