Do you still love your wedding dress?

I'm recently married and we have just received our wedding pics.

Really dislike how I look in my dress and my hair. Already!

Do you still look back and love how you looked?

OP posts:
Scbchl · 21/12/2021 22:17

Yeah I do, wish I was still as slim.

AgnesNaismith · 21/12/2021 22:17

I wouldn’t wear it now but I love that I had the ovaries to wear it then!! The biggest pile of tulle you’ve ever seen in your life with a basque bodice and a maxi Italian lace veil. I don’t believe it was the most sophisticated but it is what I needed to wear in my soul!!

itspartytime · 21/12/2021 22:17

Just looked through my album. Well over 20 years ago and I still love it .
Damn I looked gorgeous!! ( I'm bloody old now !!)

Takemine · 21/12/2021 22:18

I don't love wedding dresses. I do think nailed it but that's all.

Bluntness100 · 21/12/2021 22:20

Meh, I was young happy and in love. Does it matter so much you’d obsess about how you looked? Isn’t how you felt on the day more important?

Stuckhere2021 · 21/12/2021 22:20

I looked bloody amazing on my wedding day. So much so my husband looks at pics and then me and goes ….. eh?? To be fair, I do the same to him 🤣

oviraptor21 · 21/12/2021 22:23

I loved my dress then and still love it now 25 years later. I think it's stood the test of time well and would be more than happy to wear it again if I was to get married again!
Don't like my hair so much .... it wasn't really me then although it was quite sassy I guess. I'd definitely do that differently.

MrsStrongman · 21/12/2021 22:24

Yes, I absolutely love the way I looked on my wedding day.
I'm not sure if I'd choose the same dress again but I do still love it.

Stuckhere2021 · 21/12/2021 22:25

@weddingdressregrett - I’ve just re-read your post and it makes me feel quite sad. Sounds like it is mainly your dress from your username? Honestly- you will look back at these pics in years to come and think you looked amazing!! Just enjoy.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/12/2021 22:25

Just looking at the pictures and it was entirely me. There were no frills, no ruffles, no bows, just buttons at the back. It was A line with a modest train, a v neck and a short sleeve that could be pulled up in church and off the shoulder afterwards. It was duchesse satin and the only adornment was some very subtle Cornelly embroidery. My veil was short and full and I had a handmade headband of silk roses in a soft creamy blush. Frock was white. My hair was it's usual style and at that time I usually wore a headband. Make-up subtle, except I wore eyeshadow. Wore it with a pearl choker.

I still have it. I would have donated it to charity when we moved but dh said no. It will be no good for dd as she is tiny.

Pinkchocolate · 21/12/2021 22:27

I love my dress and my body then 🤣 My make up wasn’t great though.

RobinPenguins · 21/12/2021 22:30

I love mine! I’ve been married 14 years and was only in my early 20s so it’s absolutely not what I would choose if I was getting married now, but it was the right dress at the time and I look as happy as I felt.

Thirtytimesround · 21/12/2021 22:32

Nope

PinkPiranha11 · 21/12/2021 22:33

No, hate my pics, I look awful. The dress itself was quite nice but I should have got a professional make up artist - my make up has slid off my face as it was so hot. My back looks sunburnt (we got married abroad) and I look like a little girl in the dress.

lisaandalan · 21/12/2021 22:34

No, but did get married 30 years ago. X

Hallowbat · 21/12/2021 22:38

Yes I left him after 2 years but I still loved my dress and my whole wedding day, I can’t bring myself to get rid of it

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 21/12/2021 22:40

Yes, I love mine still after 23 years. i chose and bought it exactly 8 days before the wedding, they altered it and I picked it up the afternoon before. NO entourge, people telling me what or not what not, just a wonderful salesperson who gave wonderful advice. I also got the perfect underwear and shoes - they only things I bought extra were the hold-ups! I still have everything and dream of wearing it all again for our 25th. back in my home town (where we didn't marry).

Martyitsyourkids · 21/12/2021 22:41

4 years on, I still absolutely love my dress, my make up, my hair…wouldn’t change anything. My hair is TOTALLY different now (because it’s much low maintenance).

MoiraNotRuby · 21/12/2021 22:42

Still very happy with my dress, make up, hair choices... choice of husband, could have done better- split this year but do have the world's best children so...

DappledThings · 21/12/2021 22:44

Love it. It was 10 years ago, all lace with short sleeves. I knew I wanted some kind of sleeve and I think it still looks amazing.

PenCreed · 21/12/2021 22:45

Yes, although I wish I'd not had it full length. A shorter one would have been much more me but I listened to my mum who thinks wedding dresses should be only be full length. I did love it though! And I have terrible ankles, so hiding them was probably better.

Absolutely no regrets about skipping the veil either. I tried several, they all looked stupid on me.

tallullabluebella · 21/12/2021 22:45

Married 4 years and still love my dress, it was the first one I saw online that I knew I wanted to try on when going into the shop.
It has pockets!

Sleepyteach · 21/12/2021 22:48

Yes I still adore mine. My toddler told me I look like a princess in the picture on the wall the other day 🥰

irene88 · 21/12/2021 22:54

I got married last Saturday at 22 weeks pregnant and we had a very small celebration with just the closest family members. I never thought I'd have a winter wedding nor that I'd be wearing a maternity wedding dress, but as it stands I'm pretty happy with how I look. Dress was very, very simple (and cheap) and I wore the comfiest and prettiest white mary janes, flat and unique looking. Hair and make up are both understated and perfect for me as someone who rarely wears any make up. It took me a bit to get my head around being a pregnant bride, but now I think it couldn't have been more perfect

PeacheyPeach · 21/12/2021 22:59

Oh I loved my wedding dress!! I actually was really embarrassed about it during the lead up to the day as it was ridiculously big and fabulous and I thought people would laugh at me!
On the day I actually felt amazing and have probably never felt as gorgeous since! 😢 My bouquet was the one thing that I hated on the day as my florist made a pig's ear of what I actually wanted and I probably could have done better myself without the hugs bill!!
