Posting for a friend he neighbor has Covid and so does she. She’s brought in all the food for a Christmas dinner but can’t share it with family now I suggested she share it with her neighbor. They can aces each other houses through there shared drive ways so wouldn’t be close to anyone else. She was hesitant as it’s not in the rules

@Oliveoil26 how on earth do you know it's omicron? You know that omicron isn't an illness, right? It's a variant of covid. Test results tell you that you have covid, not omicron, or delta or any of the many other variants of COVID.

Although your dilemma is believable, that part of what you are saying is not.

DH tested positive for Covid on Saturday. So far my mighty immune system (helped by triple jabs) is standing firm. It's like the plot of The Stand. I'll stay with him for Christmas because I've got all the food in but like Boris Johnson's glorious government I can't rule out changes after xmas.

I might be heading west and I don't know whether God or the Devil will take me. DH can fend for himself.

A580Hojas · 21/12/2021 19:45

How marvellous! I hope they will both have a very happy Christmas day together.

ChocolateRiver · 21/12/2021 19:47

What a good idea. Hope they have a lovely time.

Whilst I applaud your devil may care attitude and insouciance regarding DH's health, surely you have to isolate too now that you are exposed to the lurgy?
Thegreymethod · 21/12/2021 20:02

I would, what would have been a miserable Christmas alone will be much more enjoyable.
As a side note..... how do you know which strain you have? We've got covid in the house but haven't been told which strain it is?

Thegreymethod · 21/12/2021 20:07

To add to my comment, how many people are walking round with covid who don't even know they have it? delta and omicron are probably mixing every day so I can't imagine two more people doing so is going to bring the earth crashing down. (I know you've already clarified they both have the same strain just making a point as people still keep mentioning it)

gogohm · 21/12/2021 20:18

Seems a perfect solution

@Squeezita. We are. Luckily we have lots of food in and I am the survivor type. I couldn't say that of DH but he has his uses. I'm looking to the future as any sensible person would.

Depends which country.
In England vaccinated close contacts don't have to,isolate.

Notdoingthis · 22/12/2021 10:26

Yes I hope they enjoy their business meeting.

123becauseicouldntthinkofone · 22/12/2021 12:05

@heldinadream

My only question is do they fancy each other and is this likely to lead to unexpected shagging? Because if so, we're going to need ongoing updates...
ha ha ha ha, this really made me chuckle
Meatshake · 22/12/2021 12:15

Sounds like the start of the Doomicrom variant. We're DOOOOOOMED. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED I TELL YOU.

(Serious answer, the should crack on)

LittleRoundRobin · 22/12/2021 12:17

Awww that sounds nice. Smile

Hope you will both have a great Christmas. Flowers

Pyracanth · 22/12/2021 12:32

Great idea

Mickarooni · 22/12/2021 12:44

Omnimelt sounds delicious

Hemingwayscatz · 22/12/2021 12:44

Have a jolly omicron Christmas together! It makes total sense.

Snowisfalling33 · 22/12/2021 14:17

I'm so glad somebody asked this. I've got loads of contacts who are positive and lonely and have been wondering if I should start some sort of Christmas Day matching service for them Grin

Ddot · 22/12/2021 17:40

Both got same strain, then go for it. It's a good idea. Plus if one feels worse than the other they can help each other out later.

SuperSleepyBaby · 22/12/2021 17:49

It doesnt make sense that they know they have omicron - how did they find out which variant of covid they had?

Tryagainplease · 22/12/2021 17:53

I think this is a lovely idea!

TheWK · 22/12/2021 17:53

Why don’t you get them to ask a doctor rather than Mumsnet?

purplebunny2012 · 22/12/2021 17:58

I honestly don't see a reason to not do just that!

purplebunny2012 · 22/12/2021 18:00

@SuperSleepyBaby

The same way they know 7 people have died from Omicron, and the way they have to tell close contacts they also need to isolate because it's been determined they have Omicron
Waterfallgirl · 22/12/2021 18:07

@Oliveoil26 how do they know that? They are only sequencing a certain number of tests for omicron, I’d be surprised if the two neighbours were randomly told that - be interesting to know.
