For Christmas Day/Boxing Day?

£10 too much? Or would you spend that as it’s a special occasion?….

Go….

How many people is it supposed to serve? And what’s the context? Restaurant?

WorraLiberty · 19/12/2021 19:58

Sahara or Gobi?

MilitantFaucet · 19/12/2021 19:58

For how many? £10 per person? Or total?

AlexanderArnold · 19/12/2021 19:59

Dessert?!

EllieSattler · 19/12/2021 19:59

I've bought the M&S Night Before Christmas smash cake. It was £20. Six of us will eat it and it looks beautiful.

TheHoptimist · 19/12/2021 20:00

I would pay a lot for Antartica

Atmybitsend · 19/12/2021 20:01

I would never buy a desert! Too hot, dry and sandy for Christmas or Boxing Day.

CrowBones · 19/12/2021 20:02

So obvious that people would wade straight in with the digs 🙄.

I would definitely spend a tenner, but is it supposed to do Christmas AND Boxing Days? You might need to double up!

User12398712 · 19/12/2021 20:02

Can I have the Namib (first choice) or the Kalahari (second choice) please? I think I'd be prepared to spend my life's savings but suspect it wouldn't be enough.

TheShoeLady · 19/12/2021 20:03

Bit of a “how long is a piece of string” question. Would depend on so many factors.

FWIW I work as a baker and make croquembouches for Xmas. I charge £50 to serve up to 10 people. Will be spending my Xmas eve making 6 of these bad boys!

I usually make a huge white chocolate and raspberry trifle, and a bannoffee cheesecake. Probably costs around £20 for the ingredients for both, and then I buy a gluten free option for the coeliacs in the family as gluten free baking and I aren't friends. So around £30 in total?

Findahouse21 · 19/12/2021 20:11

@theshoelady those look incredible! Very envious of anyone who has one of your creations on their table

Oh lighten up @CrowBones!

I'm sure the OP has a better sense of humour! Wink Grin

OK @WorraLiberty, "witticisms" then 😉.

It's just annoying on threads when people jump straight on the grammatical error/misspelling instead of responding to the question.

To be fair though, you're right, the OP might think it's hilarious and that I'm uptight!

LagunaBubbles · 19/12/2021 20:26

I make mine usually a cheesecake, maybe about £12 for ingredients and I buy my boys profiteroles so probably about £20 alltogether

Blush21 · 19/12/2021 20:30

£10 is reasonable for most supermarket desserts. We’re a small family so likely could have a bowl left for Boxing Day but we usually buy however many we fancy and divvy it up between households. Could be 3/4 desserts for £30-£50

SilkLabrador · 19/12/2021 20:33

Yes, easily, a Christmas pudding is more than that isn't it?

WorraLiberty · 19/12/2021 20:34

No, to be fair I'm normally the first to have a go at the SPAG police as it's unnecessary and rude.

I don't think you're uptight, I'm just in a silly mood and found it funny Xmas Blush

Starcup · 19/12/2021 20:38

I’m thinking £10 for a desert that would last 2 people possibly 2 days…

Deserts are the best and I read the Christmas magazines and see the most amazing deserts 😋🤤 and think wow yes, yes I’d buy that for £15! DH thinks I’m mad…. Fine but if everyone else thinks it’s fine then it’s fine! 😂

Well, the thing is, I saw this thread and wondered whether there was some kind of fundraising for a desert which might need funding to protect the indigenous population/protect the ecosystem. It's not that far fetched , is it?

Christmas is when so many charities ask for money.

To then find out that we're actually talking about M&S puddings is very deflating .

If only OP had actually spelled the word/checked their Post correctly.

Sometimes spelling matters but MN would think otherwise.

Ah thank you! Wish I could be bothered to make one for us too! Luckily we’ll get to eat any spare profiteroles though Grin

This is my biggest one so far.

Candleabra · 19/12/2021 20:54

Sorry OP but your last post is hilarious. Mmmm sand.
(I’m not being snarky, it’s actually cheered me up a little bit).

zafferana · 19/12/2021 20:55

@WorraLiberty

Sahara or Gobi?
Oooh a lot for the right one surely? I mean, the Gibson Desert is lovely - huge and red and very remote - or the Sonoran Desert, which is full of Saguaro cacti. I'd spend a lot on that one, for sure.
shouldistop · 19/12/2021 20:55

God our desserts are costing £40 Blush there's 9 adults and 4 kids though.

JaffavsCookie · 19/12/2021 20:56

Amazing French baker near us, his big tarts are £30, serve 6 but you could easily slip it into 4 instead 😀
£10 is not a lot for 4 portions, the ingredients for lots of things cost more than that.
