To make covid fudge

Decorbreadthegingerate · 19/12/2021 12:21

DD, 6, halfway through covid isolation and climbing the walls with boredom. We thought about making fudge today to gift to family members when isolation ends on Xmas eve. Would you eat the covid fudge?

No

IAmMeThisIsI · 19/12/2021 12:22

It's fudge. Consider it eaten as far as I'm concerned.

halcyondays · 19/12/2021 12:22

No

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 19/12/2021 12:22

No

Comedycook · 19/12/2021 12:22

No!

GingerbreadandJellytots · 19/12/2021 12:22

I wouldn't sorry

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 19/12/2021 12:22

I'd ask it to take a PCR test first.

Decorbreadthegingerate · 19/12/2021 12:23

Hmm I thought so.

I think it’s a really nice and kind idea but personally I never eat and don’t know many people that do eat handmade gifted food, it ends up in the bin.
Probably most cost effective to make something else that the two of you could eat together like cupcakes

Wavypurple · 19/12/2021 12:23

*more

DappyApple · 19/12/2021 12:24

No I wouldn’t!

TwinkleTwinkleLittleStarFightr · 19/12/2021 12:24

I know there wouldn’t be anything wrong with it, and that I couldn’t catch covid from the fudge, but I still wouldn’t find it appealing, sorry.

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 19/12/2021 12:25

Why not make paper chains or something else instead? Making good items to give away seems like a daft idea, even though I imagine the actual risk is low - it just seems ewww

SickAndTiredAgain · 19/12/2021 12:25

Yes! I will always accept fudge. I don’t understand why anyone would give away fudge.

But something like cupcakes or cookies might be better for boredom, as you can make them, and then also spend time decorating them.

Baileyscheesecake · 19/12/2021 12:27

Make it because it’ll be a fun activity with your daughter and will keep her entertained. It’ll be up to the recipients whether they eat it or not. If you make it today and they don’t eat it for 2 weeks they’ll know whether you had Covid at the time of making it and whether it’s safe to eat. Your daughter won’t know whether they eat it or not so does it matter? I probably would eat it but not for a week or so after the date it was made on.

CharSiu · 19/12/2021 12:27

I don’t like fudge so covid or not I wouldn’t eat it, I would accept graciously obviously and pass to DH. After witnessing my friend make a sandwich on her counter top where her cat had just laid I was put off home made food gifts.

Shock
Decorbreadthegingerate · 19/12/2021 12:28

@Baileyscheesecake so maybe a sort of reverse best before date then Grin

OP posts:
AmIAGrinchx · 19/12/2021 12:29

I would. Just make sure your hands are washed and don't cough on it. Problem solved. 🤷🏻‍♀️

People are so wasteful these days.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 19/12/2021 12:29

I wouldn't eat any fudge that a 6 year old had helped to make, sorry! The potential for snotty hands kills the enjoyment. Why not make some anyway and eat it at home over Christmas, he could make a special table setting for it for Christmas day too?

Hospedia · 19/12/2021 12:29

Unless I know the person well enough to know that their kitchen is clean, I don't eat homemade food gifts either.

driftcompatible · 19/12/2021 12:31

No. But not only because of Covid but homemade food by children in general! I have children and I eat what they make but wouldn't subject anyone else to their grottyness! Nice idea though. What about making ornaments for family?

Baileyscheesecake · 19/12/2021 12:31

Assuming your Covid isolation is through having been in contact with someone with Covid and not because either of you have Covid at the moment. If I k new you had Covid when you made it then no I wouldn’t eat it. As previous suggestion - make something non edible - Xmas decorations/drawings etc

Decorbreadthegingerate · 19/12/2021 12:32

@Baileyscheesecake no unfortunately she (not the rest of us…yet) has confirmed covid

Blossomtoes · 19/12/2021 12:32

Send it here. I wouldn’t think twice.
