Mortified by gift from boss

didyouscoredarling · 13/12/2021 20:12

I had two KIT days that fell for secret Santa, so I was included in it

I got my boss, he got me. He forgot my present on the actual day of secret Santa so he gave me mine the day after

I got him an aftershave he likes. It's a fairly cheap one (£20), and a small box of chocolates. Just Cadbury's, he loves chocolate

I was gifted today a 'I ❤️ Sports direct' mug with a pack of pens in and some sticky notes
Wtf.

AIBU to feel sad? Limit was £20...

I only know he was my secret Santa because he was late to the fisting...

I can understand why you’d be mortified by the fisting. The mug pales in comparison.

didyouscoredarling · 13/12/2021 20:24

He is a surgeon... Nice man, very black and white though and always thinks he's right, form for being a bit mean to other medical staff but is nice to me usually

@gamerchick

Everye time he passes you, stick a sticky note to his back.
🤣
FreeBritnee · 13/12/2021 20:26

You sure you didn’t send him a text asking him why he was late to the fisting? He might have tried to let you down gently by offering stationary. Nothing says ‘thanks but no thanks’ like pens and paper.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 13/12/2021 20:26

usually you say, OP?

"used to be nice to me" - there, fixed it for you.

didyouscoredarling · 13/12/2021 20:28

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst No he is usually nice is what I meant

He can be aggy all of a sudden for no reason at all Hmm

But who am I to question him, he's a very clever man (obviously)

Clymene · 13/12/2021 20:28

Wow. That is tight. Not what you want if you're into fisting

NoSquirrels · 13/12/2021 20:28

He’s a surgeon who was late to the fisting? Oh my oh my.

I’m so sorry OP it’s a shit gift but you’ve really cheered me up Grin

LesLavandes · 13/12/2021 20:28

Awh. Such a rubbish and thoughtless gift. Well done you though for your thoughtful gift 😊

Clareel · 13/12/2021 20:28

Late the the fisting and you just got a cheap mug, I’d be fuming OP.

Grin
Tangletester · 13/12/2021 20:28

Late to the fisting 😂😂😂

Shit presents though!

christmaspavlova · 13/12/2021 20:32

Late to the fisting Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin interesting workplace op

SpeedRunParent · 13/12/2021 20:33

I don't understand what you have to be embarrassed about, he's the one who failed to make an effort.
Brilliant typo, my kids wanted to know what I was laughing at.

GreenCat44 · 13/12/2021 20:36

People shouldn't join in secret santa if they're not gonna put in any effort. I got a tartan tablecloth last year that I'm sure someone just wanted rid off. Im still annoyed Xmas Angry

QuestionOf · 13/12/2021 20:36

Love the typo! 🤣 but yes, an absolutely shite present!
Just had a Google and SD sell them for £1… let’s hope he doesn’t get you next year if there is a Secret Santa!

Mortified by gift from boss
DrGoogleSaysSo · 13/12/2021 20:37

Those mugs are freebies. Your thightfisted boss couldn't even be bother to buy you a gift Shock

AngelonTopoftheTree · 13/12/2021 20:37

That is a shit gift OP Xmas Sad
But your typo did make me laugh

lottiegarbanzo · 13/12/2021 20:37

Well!

Mortified though? That's what he should have been; deeply embarrassed. Disappointed and let down would be a more understandable emotion for you. Why are you feeling embarrassed? On his behalf, out of a sense of awkwardness created?

Treacletreacle · 13/12/2021 20:39

We do poundshop secret santa at my work, so it is a brilliant laugh as to what we all get. One year I received a dustpan and brush which I was very happy with as I needed a new one (love cleaning). Just makes it more of a fun no pressure experience with such a small budget.

lottiegarbanzo · 13/12/2021 20:39

Oh! Well I imagine a surgeon would be a fairly proficient fister - he'd know where the relevant nerves and soft tissue were located, at least.

CambsAlways · 13/12/2021 20:39

Late to the fisting eh!

HolidayTime2021 · 13/12/2021 20:39

Those mugs were a well know Sports Direct con
They add them for £5 at checkout and you have to remove them- otherwise you are charged and receive them,

SwishSwishBisch · 13/12/2021 20:39

He’s very tight-fisted. Probably why he was late 😂😂😂😂

MsWaffle · 13/12/2021 20:39

@fedup078

lol 😆 Shit present in all seriousness though Sound like he got it as a promotional gift? Tight bastard
Hope he wasn't too tight otherwise the fisting would have been tough going
Suzi888 · 13/12/2021 20:40

Next year Xmas Envy he needs something Scrooge related! Bah humbug!
