that my dh came home early

My dh is semi retired but this week he is working in a seasonal capacity dressed in red and white going ho ho ho. Unfortunately there were not many bookings where he was working so he came home early. It is not that I do not like having him around but I thought that I was going to have a day to get the house straight but he comes home and wants my help with things he wants to get done. Oh well he will be out for some of tomorrow.

Tell him you have your own stuff to do

VVVExcitedAboutChristmasQV · 18/12/2007 16:08

YABU!

Lauriefairycake · 18/12/2007 16:09

I wish with all my heart my husband was not stuck at work til 9 tonight (teacher so end of term a nightmare)

I'm sure you're not being unreasonable - but I wish I could swap

CountessDraculaboredofxmasname · 18/12/2007 16:09

so tell him to do his stuff and you get on with yours!

YABU it is his house too!

ComeOVenReadyturkey · 18/12/2007 16:10

YABU,after all it is his house too, but I know what you mean when you think you have the place to yourself then they are there getting under your feet

I do understand, I find getting the kids fed and in bed far easier without him around getting them hyped up.

lucyellensmum · 18/12/2007 16:19

i love it when my DP comes home early, i hate it when he works late. Am i alone in thinking the whole point of being together (married or living together) is about just that! being together!!

Help him with his stuff, get him to help you with yours, its so much easier with two, and that gives you time to have a nice evening together.

It is always much "easier" for me to sort DD ready for bed with dp not around, but i prefer him to be here.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 18/12/2007 16:21

What I really like is getting the girls to bed before dh comes home, then when he comes home, the house is tidy, food is ready, and we have a lovely evening together. If he gets home and hypes the girls up, they go to bed much later and everything is chaos.

lucyellensmum · 18/12/2007 16:35

yes, but the girls see their daddy! However, i do do this on occasion, its nice.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 18/12/2007 16:43

before having a baby I used to love being home an hour earlier than DH & would resent it if he came home and ruined my routine. now I have a 6 mo baby I literally count down the minutes till he gets home!

larry5 · 18/12/2007 19:17

I do usually love dh being around but because he is here most of the time - he only has casual employment as he is retired - I was just looking forward to some time on my own.

Wish my dh would come home. He rarely gets back from work before 9 and goes to bed at 10 (as he gets up at 5) He was out for 3 nights last week and 3 this week.
Kids never see him.

I love it when my dp is home early. He makes us all smile when he walks through the door.
I am not sure if yabu or not.
I know Iv always liked alone time every now and then, and have even sent dp out of the house at times so i could be alone. It depends on how you feel or what your doing tbh.
