To just leave him in bed

DH went on a work Christmas party last night. Came home at half 11, has thrown up no less than 5 times, and is now snoring like a walrus.

He swears it was the prawns in the prawn cocktail making him sick and not the 5 beers and 3 vodkas.

We’re supposed to be Christmas shopping and putting the tree up today. Shall I just leave him in bed? Or maybe even LTB? Grin

He goes out about four times a year, before the “he’s an alcoholic” brigade come out. And no kids he’s letting down, just me the big kid who was excited about doing our tree today.

YABU - wake him up with a glass of cold water to the face and go get your tree
YANBU - leave him to sleep it off poor lamb

That’s clearly not a real picture of the breakfast I served, it’s just that our plates are really outing so obviously I couldn’t share in case all my friends see and tell DH I’m gonna LTB.

5 pints and 3 vodkas really isn't that much. Leave him be.

WorraLiberty · 11/12/2021 11:19

I can't help feeling your nick name describes that breakfast perfectly OP 🤣🤣 Blush

NeverDropYourMooncup · 11/12/2021 11:20

@DrierThanANunsNasty

For anyone thinking I’m a DH abuser, I’ve just cooked him a lovely fry up.
If that's what you're giving him, he needs to leave you.

That's cruel and unusual punishment. No chips, mushrooms or hash browns for a start. And where's the black coffee and Tropicana?

Completely disagree about the cat, though. Everybody knows that you need two kittens. Especially for Christmas trees.

WorraLiberty · 11/12/2021 11:22

I agree @NeverDropYourMooncup

In fact I'm surprised this bloke doesn't drink more! Shock

Lady1576 · 11/12/2021 11:23
  • Needsomezzzz I think I'd let him sleep, while I played my Christmas playlist to help get him in the festive spirit when he does wake! I think this is the best suggestion. I’ll move the speakers next to the bed, make him feel all festive*

Lol!!! Grin love it!

amnm · 11/12/2021 11:23

Aer you sure it wasn't the prawn cocktail or something else that makes him sick?! Vomiting 5 times just on 5 beers and 3 vodkas seems a bit much to be honest!

"My plates are really outing" Ha ha! Im dying to see them now! Love this thread. OP I hope you have a lovely, festive day.

I had to miss a Christmas do one year, quite lucky as most of them got food poisoning. It was fun on the Monday, half off sick and loads of others still a bit green around the gills. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Doing the tree tonight will be nice as when the lights go on they look so much better after dark.

GrumpyLivesInMyHouseNow · 11/12/2021 11:36

I get the most horrendous hangovers, so if he doesn't do it all the time and is generally a good egg, leave him to it. Start cooking bacon at 3pm and I'm sure he'll start to feel better and want something to eat Grin

crystal1717 · 11/12/2021 11:38

It was only 9.50 when you wrote this.
Mega cruel.
I leave you! Not the other way round.

Im srill in bed at 11.36 after xmas party last night.
Plenty of xmas shopping to do this afternoon too. And another do at 5pm. Planning to leave house around 1.30.

BirdyBirdyTweetTweet · 11/12/2021 11:40

Ahh let him sleep.

crystal1717 · 11/12/2021 11:43

And yourvfry up is substandard too 🙃 Try:

🤣🤣

I would totally puke after 5 beers and 3 vodkas. I had my do last night, had 4 vodka redbulls, and I'm hanging out of my arse.

Petunia, is that you? Don’t tell Quentin I’m leaving him!

8 drinks over the course of an evening isn't really a lot! I blame the prawns too!

DrierThanANunsNasty · 11/12/2021 11:51

I see everyone is victim blaming the prawns here. They didn’t ask to be hurled into a toilet bowl at 2am did they? Shame on you MNetters.

OP posts:
ThePants999 · 11/12/2021 11:52

Definitely the prawns. You don't throw up five times cos of booze.

BrightonOrLancaster · 11/12/2021 11:54

Well he is either a prawn abuser or a lightweight. What are his redeeming qualities, OP?

Youdoyoutoday · 11/12/2021 11:55

To be fair, neither did the vodka or the beer! They were happy fermenting away in your husband and he unceremoniously hurls them out along with the prawns!! That's just mean!

Come to think of it, I can’t find any Sad

He does the housework if I write out a step by step list (eg, get hoover out from under cupboard, turn hoover on, change to hard floor setting, push back and forth over living room floor).

He also is really good at playing computer games, because he practices for 15 hours a day. And he has a great relationship with a woman at work, he’s such a good friend he texts her at least 30 times a day.

I guess he’s not all that bad!
