AIBU to think Cadbury have ruined Christmas by stopping selling the delicious squares of chocolate as tree decorations only to flog me HOLLOW baubles which appear to be made of the same slimy chocolate as their Easter eggs of late? Ruined, I tell you!

@Lizzy1980

Cadbury's is crap these days isn't it. This reminds me of when my Mother's friend and her family were visiting from America a few years ago. She picked up a bar of Dairy Milk in Sainsburys and said to her daughter 'Look at this, they get Cadbury's over here now' 🙄 It was especially funny as we live a five minute drive from Bournville in Birmingham
I once saw an American family in my local supermarket expressing amazement that there was Cheddar Cheese there.
CheddarGorgeous · 09/12/2021 20:00

Lindt. Lindt all the way

ruabon1977 · 09/12/2021 20:00

You can live without chocolate. It is possible, I know that may sound strange but that is true.

Ruined Christmas was last year for different reasons.

Iamthewombat · 09/12/2021 20:01

@Piemam

Do they still make the Cadbury caramel filled ones in the shape of lanterns? Or was it a figment of my imagination?
They definitely existed. As did the chocolate fondant-filled bells, like cre eggs for the tree. Best tree decs ever, long gone. Boo to Cadburys.
seven201 · 09/12/2021 20:02

Remember when they used to make the caramel bells?? They were the ultimate! Apologies if someone has already mentioned this, I haven't read the whole thread, sorry. I agree, the hollow ones are nowhere near as good as the bells, or the squares!

Iamthewombat · 09/12/2021 20:02

CREME eggs, not CRE eggs!

Greenrubber · 09/12/2021 20:08

Cadbury are cunts their bournville chocolate is accidentally vegan!
Now they have decided to add skimmed milk powder to it!!
My guess is they will bring our a vegan chocolate soon and charge £3 a bar like the rest of the fuckers

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 09/12/2021 20:23

@Greenrubber your anger and disappointment is seeping through my screen
I shall pray to the chocolate God's on your behalf

Livpool · 09/12/2021 20:24

Oh no - I have been looking for the presents as we always get them for DS. Gutted

Twinsmummy1812 · 09/12/2021 20:36

Aldi Choeur is lovely, their 79pm hazelnut bar is gorgeous. Dairyfine is hrorrible though.

I agree about Cadbury’s on the whole, weird cloying aftertaste now.

CliffsofMohair · 09/12/2021 20:37
@LaurieFairyCake just checked two bars in my press (bought in different shops) they are both from the UK, also taste the same as cadbury I've had here and in the UK.
Do they say Coolock on the back? I thought the bars made in Dublin still tasted ok. I won’t touch the large bars

Dagnabit · 09/12/2021 20:43

Aldi do nice chocolate - the salted pretzel one is amazing but might look a little silly hanging off the tree.

@aConcernedPrude - I can’t find segsations either; I always buy DH a bag at Christmas 🎅

CheeseMongrel · 09/12/2021 20:44

@RuthsRedDress I bought some mini eggs last week from a paper shop. They always tend to get them in first every year so check your small independent newsagents Xmas Smile

cakecakecheese · 09/12/2021 20:44

LTB

Chewbecca · 09/12/2021 20:45

I’ve been hunting for the caramel bells too but don’t think they’re around either.

RuthsRedDress · 09/12/2021 20:51

@CheeseMongrel Tomorrow I am going to make this my mission, thank you for the heads up! 😁

Umbongoumbongo999 · 09/12/2021 21:04

Yes. I want the caramel bells and the ones shaped like windows. And I want them to taste as good as they did in 1989.

And when I do buy the shitty tiny hollow ones, I want 18 in the packet, not 16.

anniegun · 09/12/2021 21:07

Cadburys ruined chocolate, not Christmas!

Thisisconfusing · 09/12/2021 21:10

Totally agree . Those solid squares were way better .

LavenderAskew · 09/12/2021 21:12

@LaurieFairyCake

How do you buy Irish Cadbury's? Apparently theirs no palm oil and only milk

Anyone know ? I'd buy a FUCK TON of it

Been a while since I bought cadbury's but I'm pretty certain there's palm oil in the Irish cadburys too.

Might be less (ingredients have always been slightly different) but it's in there.

sparklemagicsnow · 09/12/2021 21:21

@MummyGummy

Does anyone know of a nice alternative to Cadbury Rose/Quality Street tins for Christmas?

They taste awful, but I like all the pretty wrappers in a bowl for people to help themselves to…

We had a Sainsbury's own brand blue tub last year and they were lovely!
Stephthegreat · 09/12/2021 21:25

Yes I miss those Cadbury’s squares, the new stuff is awful

Greenrubber · 09/12/2021 21:31

@AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin

Thanks for the support

myrtilles · 09/12/2021 21:43

I had exactly the same low feeling when I opened my Cadbury's tree decorations yesterday. Have hung them at the back of the tree and will be getting more Lindt teddies for an extortionate price instead!

ScottChegg · 09/12/2021 21:55

We had a Sainsbury's own brand blue tub last year and they were lovely!

Those don't seem to be available this year, sadly.
