AIBU to think Cadbury have ruined Christmas by stopping selling the delicious squares of chocolate as tree decorations only to flog me HOLLOW baubles which appear to be made of the same slimy chocolate as their Easter eggs of late? Ruined, I tell you!

Well. You are not wrong. But they had already ruined it by getting rid of the absolute best Roses chocolate.

Coffee?

I can't forgive them for the shitty packaging, I loved the double-wrapped foil/cello combo. Now they look so bland.

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 09/12/2021 18:40

@cupcakedaisy

I've swapped to putting freddo frogs in the tree Grin Lovely solid lumps of chocolate to enjoy Christimas!
That's brilliant, nicking this idea! Nothing says Christmas like a freddo frog chocolate. You need to give then halos made from glittery pipe cleaners Or paper angel wings?
Georgieporgie29 · 09/12/2021 18:42
@Georgieporgie29 The yellow label on the shelving itself has them detailed as 'Aussie' from memory, I think Smile also if you look at the ingredients on the pack I think it has a sticker on it and you can tell it's imported.

Enjoy!
Brilliant, thank you I’ll look out for it.

DeathMetalMum · 09/12/2021 18:44

B+M had the present shaped ones in the middle of November.

Ironmanrocks · 09/12/2021 18:53

You are my people - it is also my mission to find lovely choices to hang on the tree - I do not want round thin spheres of air either. Its disrespectful to Christmas quite frankly.

Ironmanrocks · 09/12/2021 18:53

choices?? CHOCS!!

Quiettiger · 09/12/2021 18:58

Try "Love Cocoa" which was set up by James Cadbury who is the great, great, great grandson of John Cadbury the founder.

Here

It's pretty close to the original recipe.

BanTheMLMScam · 09/12/2021 19:02

YANBU! We have a knitted advent calender that hangs on the wall and each little pocket was the perfect size for the square chocs (I always pulled out the string). I was gutted we couldn't get them this year 😢

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/12/2021 19:04

@Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas

I've actually had enough of Cadbury, can't we all tweet them and ask them what have they done to ruin this once beautiful chocolate and turned it into slime!!
They sold the firm off to Americans - this is all we could have expected.

Apparently Mr Cadbury has set up on his own and you can buy his stuff online (somebody told me this but I haven't looked)

Oh - brilliant - I have just posted that he had set up on his own, but I didn't know where.

@PatriotCanes

And they cost a bloody fortune! I've got some from Lidl as I already know they will be hollow, cheap and rank tasting.

Missed a trick there then - Lidl chocolate is lovely, nearly all just made with cocoa solids and cocoa butter - no palm oil. And loads cheaper than Cadbury's. Think they do Xmas tree decorations of some description

JetRocket · 09/12/2021 19:10

@iloveeverykindofcat

Tesco own brand dark chocolate is one of the best kept supermarket secrets… shhh stop telling people. Last time I went they’d sold out, I blame the internet entirely Grin

JacquelineCarlyle · 09/12/2021 19:12

I feel the same Op - I've looked everywhere for the usual tree chocolates and just assumed they'd sold out. Raging that they're not available - Cadbury's really have gone to pot!

Megan2018 · 09/12/2021 19:14

I bought some for 2 year old DD’s refillable advent calendar. Even she called them slimy and I didn’t even know she knew that word….

Tal45 · 09/12/2021 19:25

Kraft are awful (part of awful Mondelez) American company. Kraft agreed to continue fairtrade beans with Cadbury and then later stopped it. They are also now selling non organic Green and Black's in the US. They only care about profit there are no ethics. They buy up all the big names and then milk them for every penny. We have Heroes calendars, the pictures on it show fun size bars, what you actually get is a single square of chocolate size. We had a Cadbury's selection box - out of the whole £6 box only 5 biscuits were chocolate covered and 2 of them were chocolate fingers.

If you want really good chocolates I love Artisan du chocolat - pricey though!

JudgeJ · 09/12/2021 19:27
@LaurieFairyCake have you tried the Aussie Cadburys in B&M? No palm oil, made with full fat cream (I think).

Bit more pricey but worth it.

On a slight tangent, where in the name of feckery are the Terry's Segsations hiding this year?! I've looked everywhere but to no avail.

Is it Brexit? I'm in NI.
Can't blame this one on Brexit, Cadbury's was sold to a US company years ago and we all know what US stands for!

Thanks for the link, it's costing me a fortune! The site looks similar to Hotel Chocolat, hopefully it's taste good,
CamQ · 09/12/2021 19:39

Kraft took over Cadbury’s and it was all downhill from there sadly. No surprise- I remember the disgusting Kraft ‘cheese’ from years ago, pretty much the first big processed ‘food’ company.

I’ve bought Lindt tree decorations this year. I prefer their chocolate anyway.

They have teddies and bells.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 09/12/2021 19:39

Worse still (or perhaps not if they're as bad as people say) I noticed that they say "may contain traces of nuts". Cadburys is one of my safe brands (despite it tasting nowhere near as good as it used to) and I can't eat most of the alternatives people are suggesting here. I was chocolate coinless for several years after Cadbury's stopped doing them until I discovered Wilko ones which are nut safe.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 09/12/2021 19:42

Can’t believe it. Bought the spheres as I assumed the squares had sold out. Gutted.

Piemam · 09/12/2021 19:43

Do they still make the Cadbury caramel filled ones in the shape of lanterns? Or was it a figment of my imagination?

ForeverSinging · 09/12/2021 19:46

Oh absolutely, we've been looking high and bloody low. Very annoyed.

wizzywig · 09/12/2021 19:58

Huh? They were great. Used to love the finding of those choc decorations hidden in the tree
