To give £5 Costa voucher

Dose anyone know if that would actually buy anything? Or would it mean the recipient having to pay the rest, so not bother using it?

It's to go in cards for DS's teacher/TA's, last year I did £10 gift cards, but he has 4 adults working with him at different times this year (+2 more in DD's nursery) and really I don't have £60 for teacher gifts.

Would a £5 gift card be appreciated, or should I just buy boxes of chocolate / biscuits.

We gave a £5 greggs voucher last year that seemed to go down OK Grin

I’m a teacher and would massively appreciate this.
(Not that I believe we should get gifts ect)

I love a costa hot drink! So it’s definitely handy to have, to keep in your purse and pull out.

This is what ive done for each teacher and Ta along with a box of chocolates each.⁰ Theres a costa at the end of the road and all the teachers walk down there for coffee.

DS has 2 teachers and a Ta plus the SENCO and DD has a teacher and a TA i couldnt afford to get them all £10. DS's TA did get a £10 one as she goes above and beyond for him and they have a great bond.

So many people picking holes in this. I personally think it's a great gift. What's not to like?
Can it be widely redeemed - yes
Do most people like a hot drink - yes
Will £5 cover the cost of a drink and possibly a cake - yes it will!
Is it something different to the multiple boxes of chocolates and shitty handmade decorations that teachers receive? Yes.
Don't second guess it OP. Go ahead and buy one. It is a token gift after all. If the teacher in question finds fault with it or doesn't spend it you will never know anyway but I think it is highly unlikely.

I've done £5 Costa Gift Card and a mini box of Lindt - no doubt someone will tell me a better option Grin

However, we have at least one Costa in most directions the teaching staff would drive to work or in each town local to us (I love a coffee hence why I know this)

Can get coffee and a bakewell slice for a fiver here Cake

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

How very town/city centric

Well, yes, just like most of the population

Why would someone drive 20 miles or more each way for a £5 coffee voucher?

Only an idiot would do this. The rest of us sensible people would put the voucher in our purse, then at some point in the year its valid, will happen upon a Costa in a shopping centre, a motorway services or whilst visiting a town or city and think "ooh this one is on X child"

I cant tell if some people on here are intentionally obtuse or just fucking thick.

This!

Those of you saying Costa Coffee is sht. If only they had, I don't know, something like a menu, written on a board above the till, where you could see if there was something else* you could have. If I suggested something like a hot chocolate, or even a tea, would that be too radical?! Do people just completely an imagination here? Hmm

*lack

NewPapaGuinea · 10/12/2021 19:46

Presumably the teacher and TA’s live not too far from the town where the school and also the independent cafe is.

HollaHolla · 10/12/2021 19:49

I’d be happy with that! It would go a long way towards a couple of coffees.
It’s really thoughtful, and way more than what my shit boss gets me… (one box of Celebrations for around 30 people! She’d be better getting us nothing!)

TBH it is all pretty shit. the hot chocolate is worse than the coffee. The coffee is worse than Starbucks- which is sayings something

For £5 you could get a small but amazing bag of coffee beans
