Last weekend I phoned a local florists
and asked them to send some flowers to a nearby friend.

The friend lives in a relatively small cul de sac. The florist obviously asked the address for them to be delivered to. I advised they lived at No 12.

She then went on asking all sorts of questions about how she could find the house once in the street, ie what side of the road etc. She then asked questions about what would make the house recognisable to her, ie what colour front door.

I had to bite my lip but really wanted to respond "the fact that is has the number 12 on the door"!

Thought of this thread seeing Frankie Bridge doing an interview after IAC.... interviewer asked her if she'd missed her kids. 😅.

We were watching ETTC and they were in Wales. Lady searching said she loved the house as it was 30 minutes on the train to Victoria, I turned to DH in shock and asked, "did you know about that, a train to London in 30 minutes?" But before I could finish the word minutes, I caught his face and jolted back to reality.
Other than the serious ones, I'd imagine a lot of these are where the person kicks themselves afterwards at realising what they'd just asked.

Are you allowed to buy a rucksack? Said by the till staff in Nike (I’m brown and bearded).

Who is his real dad? Erm, me, I’m not imaginery, you aren’t hallucinating.

After returning to work after a funeral “did you have a nice time? I wish I could have a few hours off and go to the pub for a lovely buffet”.

I recently said to my husband “why is the moon so bright?” It was late afternoon/early evening and that really bright moon was the sun Blush

First one should have been sacked for asking such an offensive thing. I hope you left without giving them a penny.

Again, knowing all the ‘lines and tones’ of every makeup product on sale in Boots isn’t an equivalent to knowing who wrote The Diary of Anne Frank.

No-one said anything about a ‘sure sign of stupidity’. It’s just a thread about stupid questions that people have been asked.

But what I'm saying is that, to the questioner, it's only asking about one book; but to the shop worker, it could be the one classic book out of the top 500 that they've never heard of!!

@AlternativePerspective

Oh, I had a call once, answered it and the person at the other end said “hello, is this Joan?” (Joan not being the real name, I can’t actually remember what it was,) me: “no sorry you have the wrong number.” Him: “are you sure?” 😂.

The worst of it was that he rang back about 3 times and I eventually threatened to report him to the police if he rang again.

I had exactly this once. Someone called me from a London number, local to where I lived, so although unknown I answered it. This bloke just said "Claire!" really cheerily. I just said "sorry, I think you have the wrong number, my name's not Claire". Rather than just apologising, he also asked me if I was sure, then proceeded to phone me a number of times, getting angrier and angrier. Not sure if he was angry that I wasn't Claire or that Claire had obviously given a fake number to someone she never wanted to see again, but I also had to threaten to report him to the police if he called again.

Thankfully he didn't, and I can totally understand why Claire gave him a fake number!
