To think Boris should be fired/resign over this

170,000 people dead.

People couldn’t visit loved ones in hospital on their deathbed.

People couldn’t attend funerals of their family.

All of us had to put up with Xmas without our friends and family.

And these knob heads had a party. Absolute joke

@GattioAnyone

Operating a hairbrush would be a good baseline.
This is all part of his ‘charm’ though and why so many people love him. It’s actually a very carefully cultivated PR stunt to make him look boyish and relatable. Turns my stomach.
GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 10:39

He got in because of deep concerns over hard left among blue labour voters imo. Plus impatience over Brexit. The PR genius is overstated.

Double3xposure · 09/12/2021 10:41

@OldaRailer

Saw Ruth Davison yesterday talking about response in the constituencies over this and how Downing Street is insulated from that. She looked livid.
Ruth Davison has no time for Boris.
IpanemaPeaHen · 09/12/2021 10:45

The Telegraph and Sun have negative headlines about him. I do think the tide is very slowly turning against Mr Johnson.

YourenutsmiLord · 09/12/2021 11:03

I agree with Ruth Davidson - hatred of Tories is going to get even more entrenched in Scotland, Labour are useless - SNP just romp home.

Mayorquimby2 · 09/12/2021 11:14

"which has been miraculously moved down the headlines in place of the news of his second baby."

I think that legally you have to put a question mark after the number any time you discuss the amount of children he has.

YourenutsmiLord · 09/12/2021 11:18

To get rid of him you need a replacement. I vote Tory but feel we need a change now. Too many arrogant mistakes.
Come on MN who should replace him.?

RogueHair · 09/12/2021 11:49

@bakingbernie

Oh for goodness sake. It was a year ago. Move on, let's worry about the here and now.
Can’t really move on when this is going to have ramifications this year too. The parties broke the rules and Johnson lied about it. Last year people had to sacrifice seeing loved ones who were dying, going to funerals etc and whilst the government(who made the rules) were partying away against said rules. People are rightly angry. Many won’t be sticking to Plan B and as someone said earlier, Boris Johnson is a national health hazard. He needs to go!

@bergam

I am not in UK so forgive me if I misunderstand anything in your parliamentary system. This type of behaviour would not go unchallenged in most other countries, the opposition would be baying for blood and sooner or later the miscreant would be brought to heel. But not, it seems in UK. Must be such a tolerant nation to put up with such brazen behaviour from an idiot such as he is.

Anyway, looking on I get a feeling that he is enjoying the attention, still playing the clown and looking like someone you would be embarrassed to bring anywhere with his scruffy look.

He is too lazy to resign, tell the truth, or do the right things for his country. I am baffled that he has lasted as long as this!

But there is no democracy in UK anyway from what I can see. FPTP means the smaller parties and independents will never ever get an opportunity to represent other voters' views as would happen under PR, which is totally representative. So Yin and Yang carry on forever, Blue for a few years, then Red for another stint. It is fascinating to watch, and I do not mean to be disrespectful of anyone, but most people must be mortified with the antics of the man. Imagine he is representing you at home and on the world stage as a "Sovereign" nation post Brexit. That's up next and Covid has just delayed the fallout for now.

Oh get lost

This is absolutely spot on not only is there no suitable Conservative candidate to replace him, but when you cast your eye over the other parties there is currently no cohesive party. . Anyone who dreams that Keir Starmer has the answers is kidding themselves. Labour cannot even mount a credible opposition leave alone lead the country.
Nayday · 09/12/2021 13:11

This PM can't even answer a straight question about how many children he has.

His time as PM will be remembered for (many) gaffes and hypocrisy. The loveable rogue schtick is wearing thin and his party will turn on him soon. NHS workers and accounts of the elderly dying alone have seen to that. It's sheer brazen arrogance that's keeping him in role but not past the next general election. Just a matter of time now.

Twilight7777 · 09/12/2021 13:14

I think it should be boris and all those that attended the parties, knew about it and colluded to keep it quiet

The real joke is all those folk who voted this odious man, who is without a scrap of integrity, into office

Is anyone actually surprised that his staff would flout regulations like this - and think it was funny?

the80sweregreat · 09/12/2021 13:32

The thing that struck me this morning was the fact that the new vaccine had only been given to a few people at the time of this party in 2020.
The ones partying on knew the reasons for the tier systems and why the restrictions were all put back in place. London's tier was high.
They obviously didn't worry that they could catch this virus or pass it on to those that they live with.
They knew that Boris Johnson had been in hospital with it only seven months earlier and how deadly it was, but they still thought having a bit of a do was worth the risks.
They really did not think at all. Yet they are the ones running the country and imposed the rules on the rest of us.
You really couldn't make it up.

GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 13:33

They are young and thus immortal.

the80sweregreat · 09/12/2021 13:38

@GattioAnyone

Yes, understand this, but these people are not a crowd of teens out on the town, these are the people who probably dreamt up the tier systems and how to get the message across about how deadly it could be! Then they flouted all their own rules. If it wasn't so serious it would be laughable :( But it isn't
GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 13:41

Well wasnt the chap in the clip in his twenties? They are all slim, healthy and from a privileged background.
In their very large brain / low compassion personalities illness is for others, I would guess.

@bergam
I’m not entirely sure how you’ve missed the endless criticisms of Johnson by the opposition - but there’s very little point in the Leader of the Opposition demanding the PM resign because it carries no weight. They’d probably like their opposite number to resign lots of the time & could find a justification for demanding it. It also has the potential, given the fact they’ve no more say in the matter than I have, to get the ruling party to rally round their Leader out of sheer cussedness.

I’m not sure how you have “tolerance” & “unable to effect change other than by revolution” confused, but apparently you do.

We have noticed FPTP is flawed, thank you, which is why there are campaigns like Make Votes Matter; not that PR doesn’t have issues of its own. Having FPTP, however, is absolutely not the same as the absence of democracy (even an unelected second chamber doesn’t cause that). You are not only being grossly offensive & disrespectful about the UK (saying you don’t mean to be doesn’t let you off the hook for then crashing on with it); you are also effectively making a mockery of the experiences of people in places like Myanmar, Zimbabwe, & a shocking number of other African countries.

the80sweregreat · 09/12/2021 13:45

Yes, I guess you do feel more invincible when your young
There was an illegal rave on NYE not far from me last year and those people have been prosecuted , all young people.
I was appalled ( at the time) but now I think well , why not ? I know I'm wrong to think this way , but it just hammers home the whole ' one rule for them' thinking.
They were fined etc , I just hope some of these number 10 party goers might be as well but I'm not holding my breath

The truth often hurts, and there are none so blind.....

I absolutely had no intention of offending anyone. But discourse is free.

StoneofDestiny · 09/12/2021 15:36

He has no moral code, so he would never resign. The foot soldiers will be forced to resign though (one already gone).

The fact that he has t been forced to resign/sacked shows you the Tory Party is wholly corrupted and quietly show their approval by backing him as leader.

StoneofDestiny · 09/12/2021 15:45

Can't actually think of a government in the UK that has so openly demonstrated it's OK to break the law and by doing so, encourage law breaking.
They really have no moral right to lead.

Scary the role of the police in this too, they will know full well who entered No20 on those nights and what went on. Stunned by their silence (just like the silence shown by the police protection officers for Andrew, the royal Pratt.

Happygirl79 · 09/12/2021 20:29

Never ever would I vote for this political party. So corrupt. And shameless with it. Yes Boris should be ousted by his party but he will simply be replaced with a more accomplished liar
