Would you go on it and have bugs dumped over you and have to drink cow testicles cocktails and munch on bulls anuses if your career was on the downwards path? AIBU to think they have no dignity, especially now when it’s been on for 20 years and it’s desperately sad and laughable?

If I was desperate for the money or my career was in the toilet then yes I would gladly go on.

Adam Woodyatt isn't being paid for his sabbatical from EE and as someone said in the case of Danny Miller he can stay home with his family for a while and not do any paid work, if he chooses. He's left Emmerdale, so obviously needs an income. Years ago I think I read that the average payment is £100,000.

I always see the people on them as washed up and desperate. If there was ten people I'd usually recognise 1-2/10

I think anything that has to tell you in the title of the show that they're celebrities usually means they'll be some lesser known ones there!Wink

The culture of fame and celebrity is quite fickle and you could be flavour of the month one month and never seen again a few months later. Whilst I think celeb endorsed books (fiction, autobio, cookery, baby weaning, whatever) , perfume, fitness dads, baby clothes ranges, cheesy adverts etc sometimes seem a bit cringey (and I generally don't buy whatever the item is) i can't blame them for taking the opportunities when they're offered.

Current A listers probably don't need the publicity, the money or haven't got 4 weeks "dead time" in their schedule. And even a lot of former soap stars or pop stars would normally be signed up for panto at this time of year.

I've always thought it was pretty awful. Boring, exploitative, cruel and cringe-making. I have watched episodes with the DC from the time to time, but now just refuse.

I neither know nor particularly care about the details of what happened to Richard Madeley, other than I hope he didn't get preferential treatment when other people are really struggling to access vital emergency medical care. That whole saga made me feel quite grouchy.
