Got no electricity since Friday evening.
Very cold and dc and myself have decamped to PIL to get warm and so I can work.

Got this text from DP

Shall I leave him?

I live in a whole other world. You told his mum about that?!

oftenbaffled · 01/12/2021 10:22

Those who think it's odd or not appropriate- why do you use your energy to reply?!

whilst i can't understand replying if you find a thread boring

finding a thread odd or not appropriate - is definitely one i have the 'energy' to reply to!

This one is indeed odd (and gross)

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/12/2021 10:23

The joke about it being back on would have irritated me, I hate being cold!

But showing the second part to his mum and then enjoying him getting told off by her is bizarre. The fact a grown man got told off by his mum is bizarre. The dynamic seems bizarre.

That said, I hope it works for you and that your power is back soon.

Rosebel · 01/12/2021 10:23

I think its funny but probably wouldn't if I'd been without power for 3 days.
I also agree that telling your MIL is weird. Did she need to get involved? Why couldn't you give him a bollocking yourself?

Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 10:33

Ok I'm weird odd and inappropriate

I'll step away from this thread now. Thanks for making me feel like shit in a shit week.

I have never been hurt by comments on mumsnet or any other social media before but today I feel shit.

Thanks vipers

No one obviously got the lighthearted message Blush

His mother "rollocking" him was taken by him in a joke too

We giggled 🤭

it is what she told him off about that is the really weird bit of the story!
Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 10:35

Ok like I said weirdness accepted.

Oh come on

Some of this think its odd and weird that you MIL has told your husband off for a text re his erection.

Do you honestly not think that some of us would not think that was weird and odd??

Yes but one poster's definition of 'lighthearted' isn't necessarily every other poster's definition
WorriedGiraffe · 01/12/2021 10:37

Can’t believe people are so outraged by you telling his mum! I think it’s funny you told her, if she sees the funny side what’s the problem?

Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 10:37

Maybe I expected a couple of comments but the point is getting laboured don't you think? And I have admitted my weirdness

Let's move on

Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 10:38

I worked in sexual health for some time so very open about stuff with my family.

Maybe why I am weird!! But I am also lovely 🥰 (I'll keep telling myself that!)

LittleGwyneth · 01/12/2021 10:39

YOU TOLD HIS MOTHER???

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 01/12/2021 10:40

Did she in fact tell him off for lying to you about the power being back on, @Whitegrenache? I mean, that makes sense. It was quite an unhelpful thing for him to do.

Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 10:41

@LittleGwyneth

YOU TOLD HIS MOTHER???
Really...yes I'm currently staying with his parents due to NO FECKING ELECTRICITY...

I had also told her the leccy was back on and she asked why did dp tell me it was on when it wasn't!!!

Ahhhh

luinagreine · 01/12/2021 10:43

You aren't weird or odd at all OP. I would hope that a lot of the posters on this thread are being intentionally dense because the alternative is worrying.

Move on to what? Or do you mean all leave the thread if not posting what you like?
girlmom21 · 01/12/2021 10:44

I wouldn't have told my MIL about that message if it was a joke. I definitely wouldn't tell her if it was partially passive aggressive.

FriendWoes111 · 01/12/2021 10:45

Come on guys it's obvious that the DH made a joke which OP wanted to share and thats all this thread is about.

In non uptight households you could share this joke with your MIL which is what OP did. Obviously MIL just thought it was funny but OP presented it as if she was going to give him a bollocking for a bit of dramatic effect which is hardly the crime of the century.

You dont need to kick OP when shes down.

hotmeatymilk · 01/12/2021 10:48

Can’t believe you waved your DH’s erection in your MIL’s face, stole her savings and shat on her doorstep, OP, very odd behaviour.

GalaxyPostcard · 01/12/2021 10:48

I would not find this funny but only because we have also had no power for days and it has been awful. Not sure why you shared it with his mum though, how odd!

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 01/12/2021 10:48

Oh I admit to being dense when it comes to understanding other people's text messages on MN.

I write text messages using full words and correct SPAG, and DP has to do the same back to me or I have difficulty understanding it all.

I feel very, very old. So I genuinely though 'YwH!!!!' might be text slang. Little did I know that the urban dictionary gives one of the meanings as 'You want head?' which tbh wouldn't not fit in with the emerging narrative at the start of the thread.

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 01/12/2021 10:51

Oh and I hope you get your power back on soon.
