Got no electricity since Friday evening.
Very cold and dc and myself have decamped to PIL to get warm and so I can work.

Got this text from DP

Shall I leave him?

If DH had sent that to me i'd laugh.

If i sent him a joke about our sex life and he showed it to his mother and she ''bollocked'' me i'd be .... well it wouldn't happen because we're adults.

You're coming over a bit strange OP.

frazzledasarock · 01/12/2021 09:32

if OP told lots of people her electricity was back on then her DH sent the punchline I can see why she showed it to her MIL, especially as she'd be annoyed with him.

I hope your electricity is back on soon.

Chikapu · 01/12/2021 09:33

Why the hell would you show his mother? Its beyond weird that she told a grown man off over speakerphone. If you have issues with him don't drag his mother in to it.

ClawedButler · 01/12/2021 09:40

I can't see what there is to be "raging" about, nor why this makes him a "bastard". Also cannot fathom why you'd share that with your MIL, nor why she thought she had the right to tell him off, on speaker, for making a private joke.

Sorry, OP, I can't understand your point of view at all. Is there more to this?

SpindlesWinterWhorl · 01/12/2021 09:41

On a positive note, the grass and dewdrops background on your phone is very nice.

willithappen · 01/12/2021 09:42

Jeeze at the people getting worked up at OP sharing it with MIL lol

Perhaps she eagerly told MIL their power was back, then had to backtrack once DP made his stupid joke and fess up
Or perhaps she has a good enough relationship with her MIL that this isn't an issue.

The judgement on that aspect is so unnecessary 😂

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 01/12/2021 09:42

3 days camping out with the DC and then being mislead about the electricity being restored?

I'd have steam coming out of my ears.

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 01/12/2021 09:42

I haven't got a clue what the text message means.

Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 09:44

@hotmeatymilk

I've even looked up 'YwH' and I'm none the wiser. I’ve decided it’s “Yes, wahey!” which could apply both to the end of power cuts and to sex
I meant yeah!!

MIL bollocking was also fun!

This whole thread is cringe.

TokyoDreaming · 01/12/2021 09:51

I'm cringing on your behalf OP.

MiddleParking · 01/12/2021 09:53

If DH or I ever said the word ‘erection’ in front of his mother all three of us would simply drop dead on the spot. And we would deserve it.

Shoxfordian · 01/12/2021 09:53

He sounds like a knob

Chikapu · 01/12/2021 09:54

I doubt you'd find it fun as an adult to be bollocked by your mum over something that was private. I don't care how open of a household you are this is just odd.

Justilou1 · 01/12/2021 09:55

Tell him to take his pants off as cold has a great way of sorting that shit out.

Whitegrenache · 01/12/2021 10:01

Ok I'll accept the "odd" comments wholeheartedly

Just thought it worth sharing for a small bit of amusement in a shit week where I have frozen my tits off for 3 nights in minus degree temperatures in a dark house.

Those who think it's odd or not appropriate- why do you use your energy to reply?!

Mumsnet is a very strange place sometimes

She hasn't had any power for three days, of course she is going to be upset that she thought it was back, told lots of peoples it was back on but turns out it was a joke.
oftenbaffled · 01/12/2021 10:10

gross. just gross
and so weird to share

kikipie · 01/12/2021 10:11

The whole thing is odd. I don’t see anything ‘lighthearted’ at all Confused

kikipie · 01/12/2021 10:12

oftenbaffled absolutely

Polmuggle · 01/12/2021 10:14

Why don't I understand any part of this text? What's his erection go to do with being back?

I'm guessing because MN is a chat forum and you put this up for comment? 😏
