Fed up of people criticising my diet

So for the past year I’ve been on a well known meal replacement diet. Lost over half my body weight and gone from a size 20 BMI 40 to a size 8 BMI 19.5. People reactions were slightly irritating at first, but are now really getting on my nerves. For example:

“Eewww yuck I couldn’t drink that”
“Oh no that’s so unhealthy”
“I like my food too much, you’ve got to have solids and not exist on liquid”
“I can’t stand milkshake”
“Oh I bought some but it was grim and made me heave”

Aarrgggh fuck off. I don’t criticise the chocolate bar or McDonald’s you’re eating. Maybe I’m being unreasonable. But bugger off with your negative comments on my diet choices. It actually gets a bit upsetting and makes me wonder why I bothered if it’s all so grim.

Anyone for any good retorts before I say something I regret?

I am doing The New You Plan (we have a thread on Weight Loss Chat), I found out about it on here. Tuesday next week will be 12 weeks on it for me and I am on target for 50 lbs off.
I feel incredible and in control of my eating. I will then 2 weeks normal calorie control eating and then restart another 12 weeks.
It is so so much cheaper than other similar plans, has free workbooks to work through your relationship with food and a free FB support group .
I met up with a friend this week and was surprised she ignored my obvious loss(we have dieted together for years) and changed the subject any time I mentioned it. She almost seemed annoyed by it. But I kind of get that subconsciously maybe there is a bit of fear that I might succeed.
However, I do feel that as a person, I am refinding my voice and standing up for myself more so when anyone does say, "Is it healthy to do that?", I just reply that it is healthier than carrying around 8 extra stones.

Well done on your weight loss and if you’re happy it’s got nothing to do with colleagues what you eat/don’t eat. However, you do come across as disapproving of people who are overweight/eating cake etc. It’s a bit like what some ex smokers do. So be careful that you’re not complaining about how people are judging you for your choices whilst at the same time you appear to be judging them for their choices!

A colleague in work has lost a lot of weight in lockdown. People are pleased for her. Not jealous but it has caused a bit of tension as she is now very vocal about what others eat. If we are having cake she behaves as if we are all having a line of coke at our desk! It’s a bit OTT Grin

I don't believe it's a jealousy thing, well not from people who care about you.
I would never comment, but it's not a healthy way to eat, liver problems are known to be caused by these type of diets.
Plus, it's so easy to gain the weight back once you start eating again, your body is desperate for the nutrients it's been missing.

Maintaining is harder than losing imo.
I wouldn't do meal replacements but know people find that much easier to stick to and you have to do what works for you.

I have shakes to top up protein, tolerable but not enjoyable (I'm on vegan blend as whey doesn't agree with me). I do intermittent fasting to control fat levels and many recoil in horror when you tell them you don't eat for long periods and go lift weights fasted too.

Well done op, I am sorry you have experienced negativity.

I am the same BMI as you at 19.5 and under 9 stone but I would be wary of just calorie counting. It has served you well so far but you may find it easier to look at what your body nutritionally requires now instead of calorie counting?

Making good choices from nutritionally dense foods like avocado, fish, nuts, seeds, eggs watercress etc will be better for you in the long run.

Good luck! I have never been overweight though but I would think eating healthily like I suggest would not need to cost you money to be slim like shakes etc.
