What warm healthy puddings do you eat?

I am trying to eat more healthily and eat less chocolate etc but am craving sweet things. My teen DDs always ask for pudding too and are fed up with me saying 'fruit or yoghurt'!

I sometimes make fruit crumbles or stewed fruit but I can't think of other warm healthy puddings I can make. As it's coming up to Xmas and we'll be eating lots of 'naughty' stuff I thought I'd try and counteract that in advance Grin. It's also much colder so looking for something warm!

What do you make? Smile

One of my favorite hot puddings is suet syrup duff and custard. I very much doubt its healthy but its delicious

HelplesslyHoping · 29/11/2021 20:23

Baked oats- can be as healthy or unhealthy as you want and doesn't take a genius to make. veggiedesserts.com/baked-oatmeal-recipe/

Peaches baked in the oven with a tiny bit of butter dotted on them, some vanilla and topped with ground almonds. Served with a scoop of greek yoghurt. It's really really tasty, though you need ripe peaches which may be tricky at this time of year!

A big stodgy dessert is like having a second dinner, let's face it. It's about another 400 calories. If you are a 6ft tall bloke who goes cycling miles at the weekends you could get away with it, otherwise it's unnecessary extra unhealthy food. I'd stick to the fruit and yogurt or you could buy Soleros or some other lolly ice.
If your DD is already overweight then creating healthy habits is in her interest.

Grilled grapefruit (you're supposed to sprinkle a smidge of brown sugar on top before cooking, I guess you could try substituting sweetener or cinnamon?). Splodge of creme fraiche to serve, or yogurt.

icedcoffees · 29/11/2021 20:38

Fruit crumbles.
Rice pudding
Bananas and custard.
Baked apples with cinnamon and custard.
Custard on its' own, lol.

Isabellabasil · 29/11/2021 20:39

This isn't what you asked but along the same lines, my little boy loves hot chocolate so instead of buying the sugar-laden cadbury type, I've started making it with Cocoa powder and honey. I do appreciate that honey is not 'healthy' but its a bit better and also you don't need as much as it doesn't really need to be as sweet as the prepared hot chocolate is.

Baked bananas are nice, put a few chocolate chips into the slit.

Lots of the others on here I would have suggested, stewed fruit, fruit compote, baked apples, clafoutis, pancakes with fruit fillings, anything with custard.

anothername007 · 29/11/2021 20:46

Ambrosia light custard pot microwaved with a chocolate protein bar or less coals a sugar free jelly. .

Girlintheframe · 29/11/2021 20:50

Avocado chocolate moose is delicious! Wouldn't know it's avocado. Not low fat but full of good fats.

Greek yoghurt either with berries on top or blitz your berries and whip in the yoghurt, maybe a couple of those tiny meringues mixed in to give texture

Stewed fruit without sugar is pretty healthy.

Berry/fruit cobbler ..I just make less of the cobbler than it says in the recipe and scatter it over.

We make waffles, 1 cup of flour, 1 egg and milk - makes about 4 waffles. Made in waffle maker, a tiny bit of oil wiped over surface to stop it sticking, served with frozen fruit (which I microwave till warm) and a dollop of greek yogurt.

StarryNightSparkles · 29/11/2021 21:31

My favourite is a mini meringue topped with mixed berries and greek yogurt.... yummy

fitflopqueen · 29/11/2021 21:40

Search for Fast800 desserts, there is a pear & ginger pud, i make the chocolate beetroot brownies and the chocolate & black bean torte which are lovely and can go in the freezer in portions. No sugar but dates are used.

WinterCarlisle · 29/11/2021 21:41

My 3 love “Bounty Porridge” for pudding. It’s hot porridge with a spoonful of raw cacao powder and a spoonful of desiccated coconut. It tastes really decadent but if made with skimmed milk would be pretty low calorie I think?

Feetupteashot · 29/11/2021 21:43

Fruit or yogurt here!

PrincessNutNuts · 29/11/2021 21:45

Microwaved apple slices with blackberries and a little sugar hits the spot for me.

icedcoffees · 29/11/2021 21:48

@PrincessNutNuts

Microwaved apple slices with blackberries and a little sugar hits the spot for me.
How long do you microwave them for please?
Clymene · 29/11/2021 21:49

Baked banana mixed with Greek yoghurt. Bananas go really sweet and gooey when they're cooked.

Blinkingbatshit · 29/11/2021 21:56

Stewed Apple with coconut yoghurt and maple syrup

comfortablyfrumpy · 29/11/2021 21:58

poached pears - poach them in lemon juice, bit of red wine, sugar (yes, that bit's not healthy).
I did some last night with blueberries and reduced the poaching liquor once the pears were cooked. Blooming delicious.

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 22:04

Char grilled peach or pineapple with low cal ice cream

Geriatric1234 · 29/11/2021 22:10

Baked peaches with 0% yoghurt and cinnamon. I swear these taste like a real dessert (and I have the biggest sweet tooth!). I add a little sweetener to the yoghurt too because i find Greek yog a tad sharp - if you go 2/5% you don’t need it. IMHO.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 29/11/2021 22:10

Figs baked with marsala, and greek yogurt with honey and nuts.

PrincessNutNuts · 29/11/2021 22:23

It depends a bit on quantity @icedcoffees but if I'm doing a full 350g pack of Waitrose pre-prepared apple slices then 3-4 minutes.

It's like the start of a blackberry and apple pie or crumble but without bothering with pastry. Smile

Waitrose and Sainsburys also do tinned apple slices which are easier to keep.

I keep meaning to try it with sultanas or figs instead of the blackberries.

WouldBeGood · 29/11/2021 22:25

Or microwave a fun size bounty or Mars bar with a scoop of low cal ice cream
