What warm healthy puddings do you eat?

I am trying to eat more healthily and eat less chocolate etc but am craving sweet things. My teen DDs always ask for pudding too and are fed up with me saying 'fruit or yoghurt'!

I sometimes make fruit crumbles or stewed fruit but I can't think of other warm healthy puddings I can make. As it's coming up to Xmas and we'll be eating lots of 'naughty' stuff I thought I'd try and counteract that in advance Grin. It's also much colder so looking for something warm!

I think it's better to go for smaller portions or less often. Make the calories worth it.

My all time favourite is rice pudding made with evaporated milk. Not 'healthy' but comforting and nourishing.

I'm very fond of baked rice pudding with a thick brown skin on it.

Best made with butter and sugar so maybe not quite as healthy as you want.

Poached fruit probably more your sort of thing.

On slimming world there are loads of ideas.
Low cal/syn cheesecakes, banana pancakes made from just banana and egg, oat muffins/pancakes/waffles.

Not really a pudding, but porridge is warming, healthy, and can be sweet. A tiny bit of golden syrup makes it tasty like flapjack.
But I like to put apple sauce (don't need much sugar, so still sort of healthy) and cinnamon in. The cinnamon makes it taste like a proper winters treat!

Ben & Jerry's do lower calorie ice cream, I often have a scoop or two after super which is less than 400 calories.

We like stewed fruit and custard or greek yoghurt, depending on exactly how chilly we're feeling, but another favourite is slice a banana into a mug, break up a square or two of dark chocolate, microwave until banana is warm and soft and chocolate melts, stir, eat. Very quick, easy to make for exactly as many servings as you need, and somehow feels like a nice treat despite being two ingredients chucked in the microwave.

Banana porridge (made with readybrek for little ones) is a favourite here, sometimes add a sprinkle of grated chocolate to make it more of a treat. We also make it with other fruits, like baked apple or pear with cinnamon or nutmeg. If ripe enough the fruits make it super sweet so we don’t add any sugar.

Slice eating apples (they hold their shape) and stack into layers with frozen berries and thick slices of cooking apples (they don't). Dust each layer of eaters with a pinch of sugar, lemon zest and if you like it, Cinnamon or Allspice. Individual ramekins are perfect for this. Finish with a slice of cooking apple, some oats and a little bit more of the sugar/lemon zest mix. Or a sprinkling of granola, as it's easier to control the amount compared to making crumble mix.

Bake and enjoy with thick yoghurt, skyr, clotted cream/creme fraiche (as a spoonful is useful for calcium, very filling/satisfying and has no sugar compared to 500ml of full fat custard). You could also do this with apples, sliced banana and peaches/apricots in fruit juice and raspberries or peach, pineapple and passionfruit. Or apple and blueberries.

Other than that, banana pancakes (keto version is firm bananas and egg) with lemon curd stirred through yoghurt tastes far sweeter than it actually is. Yellow plantain is also sweet enough when cooked in a non stick pan with a tiny amount of butter (although I add salt because I'm weird).

Just have pudding once a week and reduce that way? Berries are lower sugar than apples and other fruit.

Brownies made of beetroot and almond flour? With a bit of fruit and a dollop of yoghurt?

Obvs a treat but some fibre, unrefined sugar and a little goes a long way. I freeze a batch and thaw per portion. If you microwave them you can heat up and they go fudgey. I prefer to regular brownies.

Do you have recipe for this please?

I make pear porridge - 3 cups milk, 2 cups water, 4-5 peeled, chopped pears, a load of cinnamon (I loves it) and a good grating of nutmeg. All in the slow cooker for a few hours. It comes out incredibly creamy, doesn't need any more sugar, you can put leftovers in a Tupperware in the fridge and you've got a few days' worth of quick breakfasts. I'm quite greedy but I find you don't even need a big portion. The oats are pretty filling.

Winter fruit salad, any combination of fruits such as apple, pear, plums, blackberries, dates, dried apricots, prunes etc, gently poached in apple or orange juice. Nice hot or cold, with custard or yoghurt.

I sometimes do fruit slices on the griddle pan, pineapple slices work well.

Wow such amazing ideas. Thanks everyone I feel very inspired! I think I'm going to do a mix of fruit / yoghurt nights, 'healthy pudding nights' and unhealthy ones. I agree with people about enjoying the 'naughty' ones less often and maybe smaller portions ....

Now just need to decide which one to do first!! Grin

I do stewed fruit sweetened with monk fruit rather than sugar. Rhubarb with vanilla is nice, or stewed apples with cinnamon. Serve with thick vanilla yogurt, or custard made with skim milk.

I also sometimes make chocolate self saucing pudding, replacing butter with reduced fat spread, and swapping some of the sugar with sweetener (but not all, to maintain taste). It's not health food, but it feels like a treat while also being a bit kinder to the waistline.

Sliced pears and chocolate sauce with hardly any sugar (cornflour, cocoa powder, bit of sugar, milk).
Leftover wholemeal bread and over ripe bananas with a bit of plain choc make Bread and Butter Pudding - I add literally a teaspoon of sugar to the custard and some Demerara on top - the bananas provide most of the sweetness.
Fruit cobbler - I like it with Bramleys and apricots - top with small dollops of scone dough.
Steamed Sponge puddings padded out with breadcrumbs and plumped up dried fruit folded into the sponge mix.
Love hot puddings though we only indulge at Werneth

Maybe not healthy exactly but I love instant porridge pots (~200/300 cal) with a scoop of biscoff or Nutella, just like a pudding
