DH says it looks fine but I think it looks silly without!

I have literally never heard of this, I thought you were all joking like Mornington Crescent!

Just googled and the wicker ones look quite nice actually, might get one this year Smile

HelloDulling · 28/11/2021 17:33

The felt/fabric ones are awful. The wicker ones look okay, but I don’t have one.

crazycatgal · 28/11/2021 17:34

I've bought a tree skirt this year and it looks so much better than it did last year.

LoveGrooveDanceParty · 28/11/2021 17:34

By the time all the presents are piled up, surely you can’t see any sort of skirt anyway?

Treaclepiepastry · 28/11/2021 17:34

Thought this was a joke. No, my tree doesn’t have a skirt!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/11/2021 17:35

Wicker here, I hate the fabric ones.

saoirse31 · 28/11/2021 17:37

Never! Traditionalists here, trees don't wear skirts or any clothing, and the presents are piled around and under treeGrin

AnneShirleysNewDress · 28/11/2021 17:38

Wicker here too. The tree looks ofd without it.

DappledThings · 28/11/2021 17:39

Just had to Google to see what a tree skirt is. Looks a bit silly to me. We usually have a few presents wrapped by the time the tree goes up, enough that you wouldn't be able to see the base anyway.

8dpwoah · 28/11/2021 17:40

Never heard of a tree skirt and Google also tells me you buy tree mats too...

I thought we were doing well having a tree base since we started having a real one but evidently not. I shan't be buying it a skirt, though.

Brokenrecord3006 · 28/11/2021 17:40

Never used one. But we have quite a nice green, metal stand which I don't mind looking at.

ExpectingLady93 · 28/11/2021 17:41

First year we have used a tree skirt, it does look finished.

reluctantbrit · 28/11/2021 17:46

Our real tree stands in a wooden stand as it needs water to survive. I don't see a reason to put a skirt on top of that.

Saying that I come from a country who doesn't know that there are things like tree skirts so I was utterly confused about them when I moved here.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/11/2021 17:46

Never seen or heard of them til just now!

Ski4130 · 28/11/2021 17:49

We’ve got wicker ones here, I don’t like the bare look.

Nanalisa60 · 28/11/2021 17:49

Tree looks ok before Christmas without one but once all the presents have disappeared, I think the tree looks better with a skirt. I bought a lovely fur one from Aldi last year that was very good value.

thelegohooverer · 28/11/2021 17:50

I switched to a birch skirt a couple of years ago. I really like the look of it but the fabric skirt was more practical, because you could pile the presents on it. Now they have to sit around the tree instead of underneath.

Hallowbat · 28/11/2021 17:51

Yes I have a wicker one finishes it off

Maui69 · 28/11/2021 17:53

I think the fabric skirts look tacky but I don't mind the wicker basket type ones!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 28/11/2021 18:05

We have a Krinner stand which looks pretty okay on its own, nut a couple of years ago I crocheted one with pepperminty red and white stripes, so now we use that. It's a bit small though, I really need to do a few more inches on it this year if I can find the pattern. Though I expect the kittens will skite it off and all around the house at least three times a day.

KrisAkabusi · 28/11/2021 18:07

Never heard of this. Have never seen a tree with one.

JaceLancs · 28/11/2021 18:12

My tree goes in a huge planter filled with sand and pebbles to keep it upright even with 2 cats
Doesn’t need a skirt

TreaslakeandBack · 28/11/2021 18:15

Yes wicker one.

Heathofhares · 28/11/2021 18:16

mine prefers trousers...

RabitWhole · 28/11/2021 18:17

Yup, bought a wicker skirt last year after 10+ years without and I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. Looks much neater and 'finished'
