To be sick of fucking Hermes

Why do companies still use this shower of shite courier service. Why can't online shops make it clear who they use so I can totally avoid any that use Hermes. Not once has my order with them been a straightforward delivery or a pleasant experience. In the past Hermes has:

  • pretended to deliver when in reality the driver couldn't find my address at the time (newbuild) and lied saying I wasn't in
  • told me on tracker they'd left parcel with a 'neighbour' but it was a woman about 8 houses down the road. No note left either. I had to literally knock on every house on my street
  • left parcel halfway through the letterbox and half hanging out. I don't have a front garden so I'm shocked it didn't get pinched. It was a big parcel.

So many other times of being told a specific 2 hour slot for delivery and it not arriving or arriving late or them saying I missed delivery (despite me hovering by the front door the entire day). My parcel scheduled for Wednesday didn't arrive. Then I was told it would arrive Thursday between 7 and 9pm. It's now midnight and tracker shows it's "still out for delivery'. I'm back at work tomorrow and no doubt I will miss it. I tried contacting them but all you get is some shite automated messaging service. So fed up!

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

I love love my Hermes courier. I leave 5 star reviews for her all the time. And I’m getting her a Christmas present. She’s a star.
Same here , my Hermes courier is brill. Can always rely on her and also know roughly what time she’ll arrive too👍
FoggySpecs · 26/11/2021 12:59

Just heard on You and Yours on Radio 4, that Yodel and Hermes were rated the worst. I'm currently waiting on something I ordered 9 days ago, apparently it is with Hermes.

Snaketime · 26/11/2021 13:10

Can't stand Hermes. The last time I ordered something that was being delivered by them it 'went missing' whilst in their care.

TwentinQuarantino · 26/11/2021 13:14

@thirty6 yes, I've emailed them and complained. Online reviews are full of complaints and negative feedback so doubt it will make a difference. Companies just don't care.

I once left a negative review on Amazon about the delivery (Hermes again) and they emailed me later refusing to publish it. No reason given. It wasn't inappropriate or anything either and I realized they're all in cahoots with each other.

Like all franchises it is down to the individual driver.

Personally we have never had an issue with our Hermes delivery person. Have had the same one for years.

However last year when she had Covid the temp was diabolical, and created so many issues for my usual one to sort out.

It was because reviews are for the product, not the delivery.

SoupDragon · 26/11/2021 13:25

Our local drivers are all really good though. It varies hugely by area.

BetterthanIthink · 26/11/2021 13:26

Can’t fault our local Hermes driver . He’s great .

Fet2021duejuly2022 · 26/11/2021 13:28

Perhaps stop buying crap you don’t need? 🤣

TwentinQuarantino · 26/11/2021 13:41

@Fet2021duejuly2022

Hmm Righto Mystic Meg.

TwentinQuarantino · 26/11/2021 13:44

@SoupDragon

Ah okay, that's probably it. But I did give the product a good review and briefly added delivery wasn't great and described the problem I'd had. I don't see why that's an issue for them when many customers would want to know this.

I agreed ok, its a pain, can flare up at anytime.....grrrr

junglejane66 · 26/11/2021 13:44

Oh sorry just re-read the title, I though you wrote herpes

TwentinQuarantino · 26/11/2021 13:45

@junglejane66

Where I live hermes parcels are taking weeks to turn Up, if it at all. There is a serious shortage of drivers and a high staff turnover so a massive backlog on parcels on the route I live in. Haven't even been given the option to pick up from depot either.

The drivers themselves try their best. It's the company in general. They literally take on anyone! I know someone who got a job delivering without even an interview or trial. She lasted a week. It wasn't for her.

drunkensailorette · 26/11/2021 13:53

The number of posts on our local social media pages about mis delivered parcels the last couple of weeks is off the scale. Every day there's someone posting a photo of someone else's front doorstep asking if they've got their parcel. How hard is it to deliver to the address that's on the label?

TheFairyCaravan · 26/11/2021 14:00

Look at the advert at the top of this page @TwentinQuarantino 😂

The Hermes man in our area is excellent, tbf.

To be sick of fucking Hermes
VitalsStable · 26/11/2021 14:10

Our lovely Hermes delivery guy is excellent, never lost anything or it been late arriving, so I presume it's due to your delivery guy not the company as a whole.

Whiteclaw · 26/11/2021 14:22

My heart sinks if I find out they are delivering something I’ve ordered and I would never knowingly order something that would be delivered by them.
It isn’t just the delays and unreliability, it is the lying. A year or so, I had a parcel that was delayed, I then got a notification to say it had been delivered to a neighbour (despite me having been at home all day). - the neighbour was quite a way down the street, which was strange but I tried to collect it and no answer - the next day it was back out for delivery again - so they had retrieved it from my neighbour?! Numerous other times they have claimed they attempted to deliver when they hadn’t. I think they are supposed to attempt 3 times, but maybe just don’t have the time to do that, so they just lie about it, and it seems so widespread across the organisation with loads of customers experiencing the same thing.
I would actively pay more for a different courier.

JamMakingWannaBe · 26/11/2021 17:03

@Lostmyheart101

I know mine by name and we have even became friends and do each other personal favours.

Think it depends on your area, a new build is always hard to find

I'm sure your "personal favours" are one way to break up the monotony of his delivery round. No wonder they are always running late! 😉
NearlyThereMum · 26/11/2021 17:04

@Animood

YANBU.

Hermes are a cluster fuck.

Agreed
GrandmasCat · 26/11/2021 17:07

It is shit in here, I wish shops let us know what delivery company they are using. I ordered something from Evans for a special date and got the parcel 2 weeks later, apparently had been stuck at Hermes for 9 days.

CharlieSays13 · 26/11/2021 17:10

Our Hermes driver is a legend in the local area, goes way above and beyond. Parcelforce on the other hand.....

minimecantrollerskate · 26/11/2021 17:15

YANBU, Hermes are shocking in this area. The courier left and it took them several weeks to replace them by which time the backlog of parcels was huge. They caught up by bringing in other drivers, and then took on a new courier, but they seem to keep having problems and sent a load of parcels back to Hermes the other day which will all get returned to the shops etc.

I had a vinted purchase turn up 2 months after I bought it.

If I had a choice when buying anything, I would never choose Hermes.

OldTinHat · 26/11/2021 17:48

YANBU. They are dire. Leave parcels in the rain on the doorstep (no front garden), leave with random neighbours that I've never met and NEVER EVER leave a card. Leave smashed parcels and there is no way of contacting Hermes unless the courier is brave enough to leave a card. Which they don't!
