to be annoyed that DH insists on breaking wind in the car

how bloody disgusting can one get? Whenever we go out he breaks wind in the car with me & LO's in the back & it annoys me plus I always have to wind the window down as the stink is so bad & lingers forever and it is bloody freezing today.

I told him if he does it again I will never get in the car with him again or the LO's.

I don't do it in the car with others in there so why does he? [grrrr].

because he is disgusting.

my dp does this all the time - in bed, on the sofa, etc. he knows i hate it so much, but still does it!

Tortington · 15/12/2007 18:33

i am not overly arsed about farting - its only human. howeer in confined spaces - its fucking rude to fart.

so its not farting per se

but rudeness.

AngryToday · 15/12/2007 18:33

I would not dream of doing it in front of others especially in enclosed spaces like a car .

My dp does it and laughs, even thoguh he has seen me be physically sick because of it. He's not as bad as he was though.
TBH DD'S smell the worst.

WigWamBam · 15/12/2007 18:39

Sounds to me as if he does it because he knows it pisses you off and he can get a rise out of you.

Treat him like a child ... ignore it, and if it doesn't get a reaction, he might stop.

3Dmincepie · 15/12/2007 19:05

Did you marry my ex? he used to fart at the dinner table, at my parents house ffs, in public, in the car, at work, out and about, in company, honestly.....disgusting.

When we were getting together we went for a drink and halfway through the convo he says 'sorry I just trumped!!!' you think that'd have given me a clue......

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 15/12/2007 19:07

You do the driving and if he breaks wind maliciously , stop the car and eject him.

Wisteria · 15/12/2007 19:10

No YANBU - it is foul, rude, obnoxious and avoidable.......it's worse than eating with your mouth open and not saying please and thank you to me.

We have friends who do it and I can't bear it, both my xdh and dp have tried it on before and I practice 'zero tolerance' to it right from the start - there are men who agree with this viewpoint too!

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 15/12/2007 19:14

Oh it's only farting me and Dp regular fart and hold each others heads under the covers .

In fact I once farted in a pringle tube to stop him nicking them of me .

cktwo · 15/12/2007 19:16

Ha ha ha ha

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 15/12/2007 19:18

I think men can fart to order and equally, can hold them in if they chose to. I bet you didn't hear or smell him fart like this before you got serious.

Hekate- that's no good. The fart stays in the car and the guilty person gets fresh air .

Brangelina · 15/12/2007 19:24

My DP does this too and he snacks on the most disgusting rubbish so his farts are extremely smelly. He also does it just as I'm getting into bed and in the night when he's asleep. They're so toxic I wake up. I have tried zero tolerance but to no avail, when I've got angry he tells me I'm overreacting and gets angry himself, as if I've thwarted an attempt at self-expression.

Strangely enough he never farted before I was "trapped" so to speak.... Had I known I'd have avoided him like the plague.

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 15/12/2007 19:27

Of course. Clearly I failed to think this through....

Well, then, you have no choice.

You must fight fart with fart.

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 15/12/2007 19:34

Must admit, my farts can be atrocious at times . I find that beer tends to produce my best (or should that be worse?) efforts. Failing that, fart powder.

staryeyed · 15/12/2007 19:36

That is disgusting but I thought all men did it before I met my DP who in 5 years has never farted intentionally (once he let one go AWOL and died of embarrassment) in front of me. I dont know how he does it. I have even given him permission (I might regret that later) but still he doesnt.

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 15/12/2007 22:30

My dp could fart for England ('ve heard him do so accidently) but he does normally exercise self-control or wanders away to let rip in privacy. Surely it's basic manners??

VVVExcitedAboutChristmasQV · 15/12/2007 22:32

oh fgs.

Wisteria · 16/12/2007 14:52

Whether you dislike it or view it as nature's way and normal and acceptable (clearly a very personal thing), IF the person you are with dislikes it as much as some of us do then I think it is not just rude but actually quite nasty to carry it on, and displays a clear lack of respect for your wishes and happiness....if there was something I did which turned my dp's stomach then I would just not do it.

edam · 16/12/2007 15:14

Wise post from Wisteria. It's really very nasty to do something that you know disgusts your other half.
