Looking at getting a kindle - I don't want one I can log onto other apps with I want it purely for books!

So with that in mind I've been looking at the Paperwhites - those who have them are they worth it and those who have it 'with ads' do they really get in the way?

Thanks in advance

@squiddybear
Don't forget to sign up to receive the Kindle Deal of the Day email from Amazon. It has daily notifications of a wide range of books, usually at 99 pence.
You will spot some good reads at a bargain price I'm sure.

I have had a Paperwhite for years, and love it. It doesn't have ads on it. Is this a new thing?

The battery in Paperwhite lasts a lot longer than the Fire. Also, you can read the Paperwhite outside in bright sunlight.

@DameAlyson but an Amazon Fire isn't an ereader! Any tablet can have a library app put onto it, but it's still not an ereader.
And no, it's not down to lack of technology that stops Amazon allowing library books on, it's their policy.
Also, you don't actually "own" the ebooks you buy from Amazon - they're not yours. You have a license agreement to view those books, and Amazon can revoke it at any time, and have done.

Had my paperwhite for years and love it. Only one hand out of the covers to read, and increased font size so I don't need my glasses.

I got a kobo Clara so I could use overdrive. My library doesn’t support Overdrive but Oxfordshire libraries let anyone join then you get overdrive from that card.
