Its for the 20 pounds uplift that universal credit claimants got and people on legacy benefits didn't get..the case started yesterday and ends today.

The court case concerned legacy benefits such as ESA, nothing to do with PIP or DLA. It just so happens many many people on legacy benefits are long term sick/disabled.

Probably the right outcome really as it would have been far too expensive to give away to over 2 million people. This country needs to recover from the financial hardship of covid first!

Akire · 18/02/2022 15:49

Ye far to expensive it’s not like we weren’t happy see billions lost to fraud and not make any attempt get back. Or billion in contracts for PPE yes far as Disabled people go we can never afford it. But see the “I’m on £60,000 what can I do keep £20 child benefit. That’s fine

Stevielee52 · 18/02/2022 15:52

The money would have really come in handy but to be fair I don't know why people were given extra money anyway. We weren't allowed to go anywhere to spend anything!lol

Akire · 18/02/2022 15:55

Shock hilarious

PizzaInWoking · 18/02/2022 16:20

Yeah we couldn't possibly be fair and give money to the disabled who don't go to work ( through no fault if their own) or weren't able to transfer on to UC (again through no fault of their own)

That's life! Our government haven't got unlimited funds to dish out to everybody!I followed this case all the way through and I was hoping that we would get it but I can understand and respect the judges decision. We are so lucky in this country to have all the great services we have as it is.We are all in this together!

www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/money/legacy-benefits-legal-appeal-progress-27452414 is the most recent update i could find - they've filed an application with the Court of Appeal seeking permission to appeal the judge’s ruling, but still haven't had a decision AFAIK...

Is that what you were referring to @SkySmiler ?
